Several rough stock events, such as saddle bronc and bareback riding, have been added to the regular lineup which includes calf roping, team roping and barrel racing. Several out-of-state participants are also coming to the fair to take part in the rodeo.
"Fairgoers are going to see a total program that is well rounded and that includes all the traditional rodeo events," said Randy Hartfield, the fair manager of the Del Norte County Fair in California. Hartfield is coordinating this year's Alaska State Fair rodeo.

"It's hard to put on a rodeo without key people," Hartfield said in a press release. "There aren't a whole lot of rodeos in Alaska right now. Hopefully, by developing the full-fledged rodeo this year, there would be more rodeos, more cowboys and more participants so we could have a good program across the state."
This year's rodeo takes place on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31 at 4 p.m.
Tickets are $13 in advance and include fair admission.
