The first annual pucks event featured eight teams in two different age divisions. Athletes competed in the men over 25 and men over 40 brackets. The event was not only the first Iditarod Days Hockey Classic, but the first hockey event to be held at the Menard Ice Arena, since the opening of the sports complex.
In championship action of the event, the Grizzlies of Anchorage defeated the Mat-Su Thunder in the over 25 division and the Old Timers of Anchorage skated past the Mat-Su Fighting Ptarmigan in the over 40 division.
