PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

WARRANT ARREST

Sept. 12: Officers contacted Donna Gill, 42, of Willow at the Adult Probation Office. Gill was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Anchorage for allegedly practicing prostitution and was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $1,000 cash only bail.

MISUSE OF PLATES

Sept. 12: Alicia Marie Evans, 38, of Wasilla was contacted for a passenger not wearing a seat belt. During the stop it was found Evans had allegedly placed the license plates on the vehicle from another vehicle she owned. She was issued a summons for misuse of plates and cited for proof of insurance requirements. Her passenger was cited for seat belt requirements.

THEFT

Sept. 14: Police were contacted concerning a bicycle stolen from the rear parking lot of Palmer Bar.

Sept. 14: A 30-year-old Palmer woman reported a juvenile male allegedly stole a cellular telephone from her daughter, 13, after asking to borrow the telephone. The incident is under investigation.

MCA

Sept. 14: Police summonsed a Palmer 13 -year-old for minor consuming alcohol. She was contacted at Palmer Middle School after she allegedly brought beer to school. She was given a mandatory court date and released at the scene.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

MVC

Sept. 14, 10:17 p.m.: Troopers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Knik Goose Bay Road near Bogle Bluff Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that David Gilbert, 37, of Wasilla was driving his 1994 Ford pickup westbound on Knik Goose Bay Road near Alix Street when a moose ran onto the road and he was unable to avoid a collision. Estimated cost of repair to the Ford is $3,000. Gilbert reported he was not injured and was wearing his seat belt. Gilbert was issued a citation for expired registration. The moose was donated to charity.

Sept. 15, 12:13 p.m.: Talkeetna troopers responded to a single motorcycle crash with injuries at Mile 134 Parks Highway. Subsequent investigation revealed that Donnie Bowles, 71, of Wasilla was driving northbound on his 2001 Harley Davidson Motorcycle when he lost control of the bike. Bowels laid the bike on its side while moving and suffered injuries. Bowels was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Bowles was transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital by Trapper Creek Emergency Medical Services. Bowles was not cited for the crash.

Sept. 15, 2 p.m.: Troopers responded to a single-vehicle collision near Hatcher's Pass in Palmer. Steven Keppel, 39, of Wasilla was operating his silver 1997 reconstructed Jeep Cherokee when he drove off the dirt road prior to the paved road near the Hatcher's Pass Lodge. Keppel had entered from the Willow side of Hatcher's Pass and was traveling towards the Palmer side when the collision occurred. Keppel and his vehicle plummeted about 150 feet down a steep hillside causing the vehicle to roll several times. When the vehicle came to a stop, it was on its roof. It was unknown if Keppel was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Due to his injuries, Keppel was transported by helicopter to Providence Hospital in Anchorage with LifeGuard Alaska. The vehicle was a total loss and valued at about $6,500. This investigation is ongoing.

Sept. 16, 6:32 a.m.: Troopers responded to a single-vehicle collision near Mile 2.1 of Fairview Loop Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Thor Saum, 17, of Palmer was driving his 1984 Datsun Pickup eastbound when he left the roadway to avoid another vehicle in his lane. The vehicle suffered damage after it hit multiple trees in the ditch. Damage to the pickup is estimated at $4,000. No injuries were reported. Saum reported wearing his seat belt and alcohol was not a factor.

Sept. 16, 8:35 p.m.: Troopers responded to the report of a single-vehicle rollover near Mile 6 of Big Lake Road in Big Lake. Investigation revealed the driver, Harry William Mock, 42, of Big Lake was driving west on Big Lake Road while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Mock lost control of his vehicle, ran off the road and rolled into the ditch. Mock was arrested for driving under the influence and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility, where he was remanded into custody on $500 bail. Mock's vehicle was impounded. Damages to Mock's vehicle were estimated to be about $10,000. Mock was wearing his seat belt and reported no injuries.

DUI

Sept. 15, 2:05 a.m.: Troopers stopped a turquoise 1995 Pontiac two-door sedan near the intersection of Trunk Road and Palmer-Wasilla Highway for moving violations. Investigation revealed that 47-year-old Gregory A. Campbell of Palmer was operating the vehicle while allegedly intoxicated. Campbell was arrested for driving under the influence and transported to the Palmer Trooper Post, where he then refused to provide a breath sample for chemical analysis. Campbell was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on the charges of driving under the influence and refusal and was held on $5,000 bail.

Sept. 15, 2:46 a.m.: The Trooper Southcentral DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Palmdale Drive and Seward Meridian Parkway in Wasilla for erratic driving and an equipment violation. The operator was identified as Robert D. Enderson, 28, of Wasilla. Enderson was found to be operating the vehicle allegedly under the influence and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for theft IV. Enderson was arrested for driving under the influence and the arrest warrant and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on a $1,250 bail.

Sept. 15, 2:41 a.m.: The Trooper Southcentral DUI Enforcement Team contacted Mark Carey, 52, of Anchorage after the vehicle he was operating was stopped on Big Lake Road near the Parks Highway in Big Lake for a moving violation. Carey was found to be allegedly operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and with firearms in the vehicle. Carey was arrested for driving under the influence and misconduct involving a weapon IV. Carey was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility, where he was later released to a sober third party.

Sept. 16, 2:21 a.m.: The Trooper Southcentral DUI Enforcement Team contacted Mark Beaushaw II, 26, of Wasilla after the 2003 Chevy pickup he was driving was stopped for speeding in the wrong lane of travel on the Palmer Wasilla Highway near Luke Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed Beaushaw was operating the vehicle allegedly under the influence of alcohol. When Beaushaw was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, he refused to be taken into custody and resisted arrest. Troopers were able to subdue Beaushaw and remanded him to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with the additional charge of resisting arrest and held on $3,500 bail.

Sept. 16, 1:30 a.m.: The Trooper Southcentral DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Swan Drive and Rainbow Street in Wasilla for multiple equipment violations. The operator was identified as Jared L. Barrett, 27, of Big Lake. Barrett was found to be operating the vehicle allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Barrett was also found to have at least two prior convictions for driving under the influence within the last 10 years. Barrett was arrested for felony driving under the influence and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on a $5,000 bail.

Sept. 16, 3:02 a.m.: The Trooper Southcentral DUI Enforcement Team contacted Jeremy Lee Lassiter, 28, of Wasilla after the vehicle he was operating was found in a ditch on Meadow Lakes Drive near Meadow Lakes Loop, Wasilla. Lassiter was found to be operating the vehicle allegedly under the influence and on a revoked drivers license. Lassiter was also found to have at least two prior driving under the influence convictions within the last 10 years. Lassiter was arrested for felony driving under the influence and driving while his license is revoked. Lassiter was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-trial facility on a $5,000 bail.

Sept. 17, 1:33 a.m.: Troopers located a vehicle parked in the middle of the road on Julianne Circle in Talkeetna. The driver was identified as Joseph Davis, 25, of Talkeetna. Investigation revealed that Davis was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Davis was arrested and remanded into Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Sept. 16, 1:40 a.m.: Troopers contacted a yellow 2005 Ford Focus near the intersection of Shrock Road and Little Su River. Investigation revealed Sara Oniell, 20, of Wasilla was operating the vehicle while allegedly impaired by alcohol. Oniell was arrested for driving under the influence. Oniell was transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility, where she was remanded into custody with no bail set.

DWLCSR

Sept. 15, 8 a.m.: Troopers stopped a white 1988 Honda two-door near Fred Meyer in Palmer for a moving violation. Investigation revealed that 19-year-old Bethany A. Sanderlin of Palmer was operating the vehicle while her license is suspended. Sanderlin was issued one summons for driving while her license is suspended and released at the scene. The vehicle was released at the scene to a licensed third party.

Sept. 16, 4:45 p.m.: Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1985 Buick being operated by Frank Epperson III, 25, of Anchorage. Investigation revealed Epperson was allegedly driving with a revoked license. Epperson was issued a summons to appear in court for driving while his license is revoked and also issued two traffic citations. The vehicle was released to Epperson's licensed passenger.

THEFT

Sept. 15, 11:30 a.m.: Ernest Snowberger, 36, of Talkeetna reported that someone took a snow machine trailer from his business property located near Mile 96 of Parks Highway. Investigation revealed someone allegedly removed a 2001 silver snow machine trailer from Snowberger's business sometime within the last month. Snowberger estimated his loss at $1,600. Investigation will continue.

Sept. 16, 12:40 p.m.: Troopers received a report of a vehicle theft. Wanda Poirier, 51, of Palmer alleged that sometime during the morning of Sept. 16, someone took her 2001 Green Chevrolet Cavalier bearing Alaska license plate DXG883 from her driveway near Mile 37 of the Glenn Highway. Troopers are investigating the vehicle theft. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

Sept. 16. 1:52 p.m.: Troopers responded to Wasilla Fishhook Road regarding a reported stolen dirt bike. Investigation revealed that at approximately 12 p.m. someone took a red and black Yamaha XR-50 dirt bike that was chained to a pole outside. The dirt bike has stickers on both of its fenders. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to please contact troopers at 373-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

ASSAULT

Sept. 15, 11:20 a.m.: Troopers responded to 2061 Palmer-Wasilla Highway for a report of a disturbance. After a subsequent investigation, David C. Taylor, 46, of Wasilla was arrested for alleged assault IV, D.V., and remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility without bail.

SEARCH AND RESCUE

Sept. 15, 7 p.m.: Troopers were advised of a possible search and rescue incident near Knik Glacier at 14 Creeks. Kevin Collins, 34, of South Carolina, was reported to have been climbing up a steep ravine when he fell and suffered a possible broken arm and separated shoulder. Because of the steep terrain, a Lifeguard helicopter was unable to reach Collins safely. RCC was then contacted and a rescue helicopter was launched. RCC was able to reach Collins and lift him to safety. Collins was then transported to Providence Hospital where he was reported to be in good condition.

WARRANT ARREST

Sept. 16, 5:17 a.m.: Troopers arrested Jason L. Miller, 25, of Anchorage on a warrant for contempt of court on an original charge of assault. Miller was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on Bogard Road near Seward Meridian for a moving violation. Miller was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and remanded into their custody. Bail was set at $200 cash only. 

Sept. 16, 7:15 p.m.: Troopers located Johnny Atkinson, 44, of Trapper Creek at his residence. Atkinson was wanted on a $1,000 arrest warrant for failure to appear on a driving under the influence charge. Atkinson was arrested and remanded into Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility.

DRUNK ON PREMISES

Sept. 16, 4:43 a.m.: Troopers responded to Mat-Su Resort for a disturbance. Investigation revealed Doyle Wolf, 21, of Anchorage was allegedly drunk on a licensed premises. Wolf was arrested, transported and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $500 cash only.
