Avs blow past Tornado Frontiersman staff WASILLA — Alaska’s offfense finally came alive Saturday night against the Texas Tornado. Despite entering Saturday’s game with the North American Hockey League’s lowest-scoring offense, the Avalanche exploded for eight unanswered goals en route to an 8-1 rout at the Curtis C. Menard II Ice Rink in Wasilla. The win ranks as the largest margin of victory in franchise history and only the second time the team has scored as many as eight goals in a game. Michael McCurtain, Scott Barrera and Tyler Currier each scored twice for Alaska, which also got goals from Jeremiah Dargis and Kent Detlefson. Alaska goalie Nathan Corey stopped 17 of the 18 Texas shots he faced to pick up the win, which moved Alaska within four points of Texas for fourth-place in the South Division.
