Police Beat: Dec. 7, 2007 WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT WARRANT ARREST Nov. 22: Police responded to a residence on Gambit Drive and arrested Tony L. Morgan, 38, of Wasilla for two outstanding warrants. Both warrants were for $1,000 cash or corporate, the first for failure to comply on an original charge of driving under the influence and the other was for failure to comply on an original charge of assault IV. Morgan was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Nov. 27: Police responded to the parking lot of Wal-Mart for a report of suspicious activity. Maxx Foltz was contacted and dispatch reported he had an outstanding $1,000 arrest warrant in his name. Foltz was subsequently arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. ELUDING Nov. 23: While on special DUI patrol, police observed a suspicious vehicle and attempted to make contact with the occupants, who subsequently exited the vehicle and ran. Two passengers were caught and detained; one was a male juvenile and the other was Anthony Golden, 18, both from Wasilla. A search of the vehicle recovered a pistol. MVC Nov. 23: Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Sun Mountain Drive and Hermon Road. Investigation revealed a 1990 Chevrolet, driven by Dione Stevens, 41, of Wasilla was crossing Hermon Road from Sun Mountain Drive when her vehicle was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet. The 2006 Chevrolet was driven by Robert Hegler, 38, of Palmer who had turned north onto Hermon Road from the Parks Highway. Stevens' view was partially obscured by other traffic, which was stopped on Hermon Road. No citations were issued due to the poor design of the intersection. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were damaged in the collision. Nov. 24: Police responded to the intersection of Seward Meridian Parkway and Spruce for a traffic accident. Police found that a bath tub had flown out of a 1999 Ford truck as it was driving northbound on Seward Meridian, and struck a 2005 Ford truck causing significant damage. The 1999 Ford was operated by John White, 30, of Wasilla and the 2005 Ford was operated by Michael Ure, 31, of Wasilla. Ure was southbound on Seward Meridian at the time. No injuries were reported. DUI / DWI Nov. 23: Police contacted Kathy Harrington, 49, of Wasilla who was driving a 2005 Dodge pickup and was reported as possibly being intoxicated. Harrington was arrested for driving under the influence and remanded at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. An Anchorage magistrate authorized Harrington to be released to a sober adult with other stipulations regarding driving. Charges were forwarded to the Palmer District Attorney's office. Nov. 24: Police stopped John Cuzzocero, 25, of Wasilla on Swanson and Boundary after observing him disregard a stop sign and driving erratically. Cuzzocero was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was charged with misconduct involving a controlled substance. Bond was set at $5,000 cash or corporate and he was released to an approved third party. Nov. 25: Police stopped a 1993 Ford F-150 truck at the intersection of Willow Street and Herning Avenue. The operator of the vehicle, identified as Chad Risinger, 27, of Big Lake was observed to be intoxicated and he was placed under arrest for felony driving while intoxicated. Risinger was also charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test and he was remanded at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with a $5,000 cash only bail and court approved third party. Nov. 26: Police conducted a traffic stop on a blue Chevy Cavalier for an equipment violation and a cracked windshield. A subsequent investigation found probable cause to believe Christopher Marion Stone-Jacobsson was driving while intoxicated and he was arrested. Jacobsson was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where his bail was set at $500 cash or corporate by Magistrate Wielkipolski. MISCELLANEOUS Nov. 24: A neighbor called Wasilla Police to report that a bunch of juveniles ran out of a residence on McKee Court. A subsequent investigation revealed the owner of the residence’s grandson had invited his friends into the house while the owners where out of town. THEFT / SHOPLIFTING Nov. 24: Police received a call from an employee at Fred Meyer that two juvenile males were in custody for allegedly shoplifting. The total estimated value of items taken by one of the juveniles was more than $200, and more than $250 by the other. Charges will be forwarded to Juvenile Justice. Nov. 24: Police responded to Carrs for a juvenile male in custody for allegedly shoplifting $11.70 worth of food. The juvenile was released to his mother. Charges of theft IV will be forwarded to Juvenile Justice. Nov. 24: Police received a call from a Wasilla woman reporting the theft of her prescription drugs and a GPS from her vehicle in the Fred Meyer parking lot. The investigation is ongoing. Nov. 27: A 58-year-old Willow man reported to police he had just observed his stolen 1992 Plymouth Voyager van at Chevron. The man was able to follow the vehicle and give updates to dispatch. The occupants of the vehicle ditched the van at the end of Rosewood Circle and ran into the woods. Police contacted one of the individuals after a foot pursuit. Investigation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old female for vehicle theft. The 16- year-old female was transported and booked at the Mat-Su Youth Facility. MICS Nov. 24: A 31-year-old male from Wasilla was contacted as a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a minor traffic offense on Nelson Avenue and Lucas. Investigation revealed the male was in possession of heroin. The male was arrested and remanded at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Bail was set at $5,000 with other stipulations. ASSAULT Nov. 25: A juvenile female reported that she was the victim of an assault. Investigation revealed Zachary Clark, 18, of Wasilla had allegedly struck the female several times on the side of the face. Clark was remanded at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with no bail for domestic violence assault IV. THREAT TO HARM Nov. 26: Police took a report from Burchell High School that a juvenile male student at BHS allegedly made threats to harm students at Wasilla High School. The investigation continues. PAROLE VIOLATION Nov. 27: Kelley DuPaul, 25, of Anchorage was contacted staggering and falling down while eastbound on the Parks Highway in front of the police department. DuPaul was taken to Mat-Su Regional Hospital for medical clearance due to the ingestion of illicit controlled substances. It was determined DuPaul was on parole and he was remanded at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility by his parole officer for violating parole. ALASKA STATE TROOPERS BURGLARY / THEFT Nov. 29, 5:39 p.m.: A 35-year-old Wasilla man reported his residence on Gail Road broken into and numerous items stolen, including a 50-inch plasma television and several firearms. The trooper investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the troopers at 373-8300. MICS Nov. 28, 10:28 p.m.: The Trooper South-Central DUI Enforcement Team contacted Susan Marie Adams, 50, of Wasilla after the vehicle in which she was a passenger was stopped on Williwaw Way near Copper Creek Road in Wasilla for an equipment violation. During a search of the vehicle, with the assistance of Trooper K-9 Roelle, Adams was found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine. Adams was arrested for misconduct involving a controlled substance IV. Adams was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on a $2,500 bail.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF Nov. 27, 11:55 a.m.: Troopers responded to a report of a broken windshield on Harbor Road in Big Lake. Investigation revealed sometime within the past 24 hours, a rear camper shell window on a 1994 Ford F-150 was broken. Damage is estimated at $350 to $450. Investigation continues. ALASKA STATE TROOPERS DUI Nov. 28, 3:15 a.m.: Troopers arrested Laura Luetkens, 39, of Kenosha, Wis., after the vehicle she was driving was stopped at Parks Highway and Church Road. Luetkens was charged with driving under the influence, impaired and operating a motor vehicle. Luetkens was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and remanded into their custody. Bail was set at $2,500. Nov. 30, 12:48 a.m.: The Trooper South-Central DUI Enforcement Team contacted Aaron Michael Smith, 23, of Wasilla after the vehicle he was operating was stopped on Vine Road near Limberlost Avenue in Wasilla for an equipment violation. Smith was arrested for driving under the influence and was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on a $2,500 bail. Nov. 29, 12:42 a.m.: The Trooper South Central DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle at the Holiday gas station in Wasilla after receiving a REDDI report about the vehicle. The driver, Travis Pickett, 26, of Wasilla was found to be operating the vehicle allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed Pickett to have a revoked driver license and four outstanding arrest warrants. Pickett was arrested for driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license and four outstanding warrants for contempt of court, and three charges of failure to appear. Pickett was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $6,500 bail. WARRANT ARREST Nov. 29, 5 a.m.: Troopers contacted 31-year-old Emilee D. Reed of Wasilla at a residence during an unrelated investigation. Subsequent investigation revealed Reed had an outstanding arrest warrant in the amount of $2,000 for failure to appear on the original charge of driving under the influence. Reed was arrest and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where she was held on the warrant. DWLCSR Nov. 27, 8:20 p.m.: Troopers issued Paul Nibur, 38, of Big Lake a summons for driving while his license is suspended after he was stopped at Vine Road and Parks Highway during an unrelated investigation. Nov. 28, 7:50 p.m.: Troopers made contact with a 1997 green Ford Taurus that was pulled to the side of the roadway on Mack Drive near the Parks Highway. The operator was identified as Milysha R. Weaver, 41, of Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Weaver had a suspended driver license. Weaver was issued a summons and released at the scene. |
