Dec. 24, 9:25 p.m.: Troopers stopped a vehicle near Bogard Road and Bear Street in Wasilla for an equipment violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Jack A. Nicholas, 26, of Wasilla. AST K-9 Roelle revealed Nicholas was in possession of a small amount of marijuana, two pipes and approximately one gram of hash. Nicholas was issued a summons to appear in court at a later date and released from the scene.

Dec. 24, 9:04 a.m.: Troopers responded to an address at the Creek Side Apartment Complex in Wasilla for the report of an assault. Jeffrey Michael Kowal, 34, of Wasilla allegedly assaulted a female and interfered with her attempt to call 911 for help. Kowal was arrested for assault IV involving domestic violence and interfering with a report of domestic violence. Kowal was transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded into custody with no bail.
Dec. 25, 6:22 p.m.: Troopers in Palmer arrested Wiley Robinson, 50, of Wasilla on charges of assault IV involving domestic violence, interference with a report of domestic violence, and criminal mischief IV involving domestic violence after responding to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Wasilla. He was subsequently remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and held without bail, pending arraignment.
DUI
Dec. 23, 10:02 p.m.: The trooper South-Central DUI Enforcement Team contacted James A. Norton, 45, of Eagle River after he lost control of the vehicle he was operating and collided with the guard rail and center median barrier in the southbound lane of the Glenn Highway, near mile post 31.5. Norton was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and with a firearm in the vehicle. His passenger, a 44-year-old female of Chugiak, was transported by ambulance to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries and subsequently released. During processing, Norton was also charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test after refusing to provide a sample of his breath. Norton was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-trial facility on a $2,500 bail. His pickup was towed off scene due to severe front end damage. Both occupants were found to be wearing their seatbelts.
MVC
Dec. 25, 5:07 p.m.: Troopers contacted Cornelia I. Schmidt, 50, of Palmer, while investigating a vehicle in a ditch near Mile 37 of the Glenn Highway in Palmer. Schmidt, traveling south on the Glenn Highway in a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, lost control of her vehicle and slid into a ditch striking a caution sign. Damage to Schmidt's vehicle was estimated at $500 while damage to the sign was estimated at $50. Schmidt reported wearing her seatbelt and there were no reported injuries. The Department of Transportation was notified and no citations were issued.
Dec. 25, 5:04 p.m.: Troopers responded to the report of a vehicle-moose collision on Charlie Drive in Wasilla. Jeffery F. Stoeckle, 53, of Palmer was traveling south on Charlie Drive in a 2005 Mitsubishi SUV when he collided with a moose that was being chased by two dogs. Stoeckle reported wearing his seatbelt and there were no reported injuries. Damage to Stoeckle's vehicle was estimated at $5,000. The moose was dispatched on scene and removed by a local charity. No citations were issued.
Dec. 25, 12:06 p.m.: Troopers responded to the report of a two-car motor vehicle collision at the Clark and Wolverine roads intersection in Palmer. Investigation revealed Sandra L. Coons, 57, of Palmer was traveling south on Clark Road in a 1994 Jeep Cherokee when she rear ended a 2001 Mercedes-Benz driven by a 17-year-old Palmer female, who was stopped at a stop sign at the time of the collision. Damage to Coon's vehicle was estimated at $100 while damage to the teen’s vehicle was estimated at $1,200. Both parties reported wearing seatbelts and there were no reported injuries. No citations were issued.
Dec. 25, 2:38 p.m.: Troopers responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision on the Parks Highway near Museum Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed James L. Taylor, 42, of Wasilla was traveling south on the Parks Highway in a 1992 Toyota pickup when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a 1995 Chevy Blazer, driven by Sarah E. Sommerville, 22, of Anchorage, traveling north on the Glenn Highway. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at less than $500 total and there were no reported injuries. Taylor was operating his vehicle while his driver license was revoked for the original charge of driving under the influence and the point system. Taylor was also discovered to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Records indicated Taylor has had two prior driving under the influence convictions in 2005. Taylor vehicle was impounded while Taylor was arrested, transported and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility for felony driving under the influence and driving while his license is revoked.
Dec. 25, 4:53 p.m.: Troopers responded to the report of a four-car motor vehicle collision with injury near the intersection of Kink-Goose Bay Road and Vine Road in Wasilla. James Gordon, 45, of Wasilla was stopped in the northbound lane of Knik-Goose Bay Road in a 1992 Mercury Sedan and attempting to turn left into a driveway when he was hit from behind by a Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Sandra Ehlers, 53, of California. Ehlers, who was also northbound, was attempting to avoid the collision with the Mercury and swerved into the southbound lane of Knik-Goose Bay Road and further struck a southbound 1994 Saturn SL, operated by William Roehl, 31, of Wasilla. Ehlers' vehicle then continued south on Knik-Goose Bay Road and collided with a 2004 Chevy Cavalier driven by Dustin Moritz, 22, of Wasilla. Roehl was transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital for further evaluations of minor injuries sustained in the crash. All parties reported wearing seatbelts. Damage to all vehicles was estimated at $20,000 total. Ehlers was issued a citation for driver to exercise due care to avoid a collision.
Dec. 20, 8:45 a.m.: Troopers responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision near Mile 29 Glenn Highway. Jennifer Gundersen, 36, of Eagle River was driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra northbound on the Glenn Highway when the vehicle slid out of control and struck the Knik River Bridge guardrails. Gundersen suffered minor injuries and was transported to an Anchorage hospital by ambulance. Damage was estimated at approx. $5,000.
THEFT
Dec. 25, 7:25 p.m.: A 65-year-old Palmer man reported to troopers that sometime between 12:30 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 25 someone entered his residence and stole three rifles and one handgun valued at approximately $700. Investigation is continuing.
VIOLATION OF RESTRAINING ORDER
Dec. 24, 1:08 a.m.: Troopers arrested Isaac A. Thomas, 20, of Wasilla on a charge of violating a domestic violence restraining order. Thomas was contacted after the troopers responded to a residence in Wasilla on a report Thomas was allegedly at the residence, and in violation of the order by being there. Thomas was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and remanded into their custody. He was held pending arraignment.

Dec. 23, 5:19 a.m.: Troopers arrested Roxanne Aggie Reed, 24, of Anchorage for driving while her license revoked. Reed was the driver of a vehicle contacted for speeding 83 mph near Mile 34 of the Glenn Highway. Reed's privilege to obtain a driver license is revoked for non-comply with re-instatement fee requirement resulting from alcohol violations in Anchorage and Kotzebue. Reed was transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where she was remanded into custody on $250 cash bail. Additionally, Reed was issued a citation for the speeding violation.
WARRANT ARREST
Dec. 24, 12:09 a.m.: Troopers arrested Bethany M. Stanley, 20, of Wasilla on an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear, on an original charge of criminal mischief IV. Stanley was contacted after the troopers responded to a report of the theft at a residence in Wasilla. Stanley was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and remanded into their custody. Bail was set at $1,500 cash only.

PERSONS
Dec. 21: A 17-year-old male of Palmer was reported as a runaway juvenile by his mother. The juvenile was last seen on Dec. 20 at the end of the school day at Palmer High School. The juvenile has been listed as a runaway and the incident is under investigation at this time.
ABANDONED VEHICLE
Dec. 23: Police responded to the Springer Connector and the yellow lot of the fairgrounds for an abandoned vehicle that had been driven off the roadway and into the ditch. Investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen.
DUI
Dec. 23: Police arrested Amanda N. Deater, 19, of Sutton on a charge of driving under the influence and misconduct involving a controlled substance IV following a REDDI report. Deater was remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $1,500.
WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT
SHOPLIFTING / THEFT
Dec. 20: Police responded to Sportsman's Warehouse where a 17-year-old male juvenile of Wasilla was in custody for shoplifting. The total value of the property stolen by the juvenile was $27.99. The juvenile's mother was contacted and the juvenile was released to her. Charges will be forwarded to Juvenile Intake.
Dec. 20: A 46-year-old Wasilla man stated $200 dollars worth of tools had been taken while he was working at JFK Auto.
Dec. 22: Police responded to Northern Mist Gifts at 300 W. Swanson Drive for a report of a burglary. The business owner reported the theft of $200. Entry was made from a side door to a common area and by breaking the glass out of the front door. Investigation into the theft is continuing.
Dec. 22: A man reported his wallet and other property were stolen while working out at the Alaska Club. An investigation is pending.
Dec. 23: About 9 p.m. an employee of the Wasilla Tub and Tan contacted Wasilla Police to report a male had entered the business and asked to use the phone. The male then grabbed the cash box, ran from the business and was last seen running from the area. The loss was placed at approximately $425.

Dec. 21: Wasilla Police conducted a traffic stop about 3 a.m. on a silver Chevrolet Cavalier for an equipment violation. A 17-year-old Eagle River boy was driving without a valid driver license and issued a summons to appear in court.
Dec. 22: Police conducted a traffic stop on a green and silver pickup about 1 a.m. for failing to signal and speeding. Ryan Jones was issued a summons for driving a motor vehicle while his driver license is suspended.
Dec. 23: Wasilla Police stopped John Robinson, 33, of Wasilla, for a traffic violation. Robinson was issued a summons for driving while license suspended.
Dec. 23: Wasilla Police conducted a traffic stop on a 2002 Ford Windstar near Bogard Road and Leatherleaf reported to dispatch as driving recklessly. William Campbell, 37, of Wasilla, was operating his vehicle with a suspended license. Campbell was issued a summons to appear in court and his vehicle was released to a driver who possessed a valid license.
VANDALISM
Dec. 23: Wasilla Police were dispatched to Wasilla High School shortly after midnight for a vehicle spinning in the parking lot. Officers arrived and did not locate a vehicle, but discovered the west side of the high school building had been vandalized with spray paint. The investigation continues.
DUI
Dec. 22: Wasilla Police conducted a traffic stop on a black Land Rover for having over-tinted windows. Claudine Magliore, 24, of Anchorage, was arrested for driving under the influence and misconduct Involving weapon in the fourth degree and she was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where bail was set at $750 cash only and other DUI conditions for release.
Dec. 22: An employee at McDonald's reported to police that it sounded like a person in the drive-through was slurring his words and possibly intoxicated. The vehicle was stopped nearby and the driver, Stormy Brown, 28, of Wasilla, exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol and then failed a series of field sobriety tests. Brown was arrested and he submitted a breath sample to determine his breath alcohol concentration. Brown was held at the Mat-Su Pretrial facility in lieu of $1,000 bail on the DUI charge and ordered not to be released until sober.
Dec. 23: Wasilla Police made contact with a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. Andrew Weimer, 22, of Wasilla, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, driving with without a valid license and misconduct involving a controlled substanc in the sixth degree. Weimer was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility.
Dec. 23: At about 3 a.m. Wasilla Police arrested Noah Gustafson, 24, of Wasilla, for DUI after he crashed his vehicle on Peck Street and Dellwood. Gustafson lost control of his vehicle and landed in a ditch hitting a culvert pipe causing severe damage to the under side of the vehicle. Bond was set at $1,000 cash only.
WARRANT ARREST
Dec. 22: Wasilla Police made contact with Kelly Kitchen, 22, of Wasilla, a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation. Kitchen was arrested on a $500 cash-only warrant issued by Soldotna Troopers for failing to appear for an arraignment on the charge of driving while license suspended. Kitchen was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility and remanded accordingly.
MVC
Dec. 23: Wasilla Police responded to a two-car collision at the intersection of Crusey Street and Westpoint Drive. A 1990 Chevy Lumina, driven by Laura Rae Koffard, 73, of Wasilla was westbound on Westpoint Drive when her vehicle was struck by a 1994 Chevy pickup being driven by Jerold Ivan Guenther, 67, of Wasilla, who had failed to yield while turning left into Napa Auto’s parking lot. Guenther’s vehicle struck the side of Koffard's vehicle. A citation was issued to Guenther, and Koffard was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
Dec. 23: Wasilla Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at the Parks Highway and Yenlo Street. A vehicle operated by Laverne Aulner, 81, of Wasilla, was exiting the Carrs parking lot onto the Parks Highway when he was struck by a vehicle operated by Emily Bottjen, 23, of Palmer, who was heading northbound on the Parks Highway. Bottjen attempted, but was unable to stop, striking Aulner’s vehicle. No injuries were reported
