Jan. 29: Police responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of South Alaska Street and West Dahlia Avenue. A 17-year-old Palmer girl attempted to stop her car and slid through the intersection and struck Robert Bush, 59, of Palmer as he was driving south. The teen was cited for basic speed. There were no reported injuries. The estimated total damage to both vehicles was in excess of $3,000.

THEFT
Jan. 9: Kristine D. Brown, 24, of Palmer was arrested for allegedly taking $23.87 worth of merchandise from the Palmer Carrs/Safeway. During the investigation, Brown was found to be in possession of heroin and marijuana. Brown was lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility for misconduct involving a controlled substance IV, theft III, misconduct involving a controlled substance IV. Brown’s bail was set at $3,750.
WARRANT ARREST
Jan. 29: Richard F. Self, 35, of Marysville, Wash., was arrested on a warrant for forgery and a warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of driving while his license is suspended, after he turned himself in to the Palmer Police Department. Self was lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $11,000 bail.
Jan. 30: Dylan Tuel, 25, of Big Lake was remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on a $1,500 warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of trespassing.
Jan. 31: Donald P. J. Turner Jr., 27, of Palmer was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility after he turned himself in to the Palmer Police Department on the following warrants: failure to appear for sentencing on an original charge of misconduct involving a weapon II and misconduct involving a controlled substance IV, failure to appear for adjudication on an original charge of driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and driving while his license is canceled/suspended/revoked/ limited, and failure to appear for disposition hearing on an original charge of driving under the influence. Turner’s total bail was $5,200 cash only.
Jan. 31: Ronald Dolfi, 44, of Palmer was arrested on a warrant for failure to comply with conditions of probation, on an original charge interfering with report of domestic violence, after an anonymous person reported he was staying at a hotel in Palmer. Dolfi was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $2,500 bail.
Feb. 1: Police arrested Amanda Marie Aguila, 21, of Copper Center on a warrant for failure to appear for trial call on the original charge of minor consuming alcohol and failure to appear for arraignment for theft by shoplifting. Aguila was contacted following the report of a disturbance in progress on North Thuma Street. Aguila was held at Mat Su Pre-Trial Facility on $750 bail.
Feb. 1: Police arrested Spencer Lynn McConkey, 21, of Anchorage on a warrant for failure to comply with conditions of probation on the original charge of minor consuming alcohol, habitual offender, and petition to revoke probation. McConkey was contacted following the report of a disturbance in progress on North Thuma Street. McConkey was held at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $250 bail.
DOG BITE
Jan. 29: Police quarantined a dog from Palmer at the Mat-Su Borough Animal Shelter after it was reported to have bitten a juvenile male, 6, of Palmer on Jan. 26. The owner of the dog, Colleen M. Prillwitz, 21, of Palmer was issued a citation for failing to have the dog registered with the City of Palmer.

Feb. 1: Police summonsed Hector Clarence McConkey, 19, of Copper Center for minor allegedly consuming alcohol. McConkey was contacted following the report of a disturbance in progress on North Thuma Street. McConkey was given a mandatory court date and released at the scene.
Feb. 2: Police responded to the Palmer Junior Middle School for a report of an allegedly intoxicated teenager. A 13-year-old girl was summonsed for minor consuming alcohol. She was released to her guardian.
VANDALISM
Feb. 3: Two Palmer women entered separate reports of their homes and cars being egged during the night.
CONCEALMENT
OF MERCHANDISE
Feb. 3: Police responded to Carrs for the report of a juvenile female, 17, of Palmer who had concealed $49.58 in merchandise in the store. Charges of concealment of merchandise are to be forwarded to Juvenile Intake. The juvenile was also issued a citation for possession of tobacco by a minor and was released to her guardian.
DUI
Feb. 3: Police arrested a male, 25, of Palmer for driving under the influence and domestic violence endangering the welfare of a minor, following a REDDI investigation.
WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT
MVC
Feb. 1: Police were dispatched to Centurian and Spruce for vehicle collision with a moose. Angela Shepard, 32, of Wasilla was driving her vehicle when two moose jumped out in front of her. Shepard was not sure if she hit one or both of the moose. Estimated damage to her vehicle is approximately $3,000.
Feb. 3: Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of the Parks Highway and Boundry Street. Paul Minnick, 51, of Wasilla was driving eastbound on the Parks Highway and slowing for the vehicle in front of him. As Minnick was slowing he was struck from behind by Noreen Austermuhl, 61, of Big Lake. Austermuhl was cited for failing to use due care to avoid a collision. There were no injuries reported at the scene.
Feb. 3: Kip Stangl, 58, of Eagle River reported to Wasilla Police that he had been waiting at the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and the Parks Highway when a four-door sedan struck the back of his vehicle. Stangl reported the vehicle then left the area failing to exchange information. Police have identified a suspect and the investigation continues.
ROBBERY
Feb. 1: Police received a call from a Wasilla woman reporting a window had been broken at her friend’s residence on Kimberly Street. A subsequent investigation revealed the theft of a VCR valued at $200. The investigation continues.
Feb. 1: Police responded to a residence on Injun Joe for a report of a burglary. A 23-year-old Wasilla woman stated that upon returning home from work, she found the rear window of the house broken and her 42-inch television missing. The investigation continues.

Feb. 2: Police issued a summons for minor consuming alcohol to Cristin Fry, 18, of Wasilla. Fry was the passenger in a vehicle parked at the skate park after hours.
DUI
Feb. 2: A traffic stop was conducted on a blue Nissan pickup for speeding, crossing the center line and crossing the fog line. Amy Wolfe, 28, of Wasilla was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Wolfe was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set so she could be released to a sober third party with standard driving under the influence conditions of release.
Feb. 3: Police responded to a call for an intoxicated female walking down Main Street. Police arrived and located the female at which time her boyfriend, Travis John Swartz, 35, of Anchorage arrived in a taxi. Both subjects were headed back to Anchorage. A short time later police were dispatched to the Mug-Shot Saloon, where an intoxicated person was seen getting into a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot. Swartz was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle while it was running. Swartz failed a series of field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence. Swartz submitted a breath sample which determined his breath alcohol concentration. Swartz was remanded at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. An Anchorage magistrate authorized Swartz to be released to a sober adult.
WARRANT ARREST
Feb. 3: Police arrested Alexander Tautua, 21, of Wasilla for a warrant. Tautua was a passenger in a vehicle stopped because of a complaint police had received earlier from the Mug-Shot Saloon. The warrant had been issued because Tautua had failed to appear in court on two original felony counts of assault III. Bond was set at $5,000 cash only and third party court-approved custody.

Feb. 3: Police conducted at traffic stop at the Holiday gas station following a REDDI report. Michael Cloud, 19, of Wasilla was issued a summons for minor operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol. Cloud was released to a sober third party.
ALASKA STATE TROOPERS
MVC
Feb. 1, 9:37 p.m.: Troopers responded to a reported motor vehicle collision with a moose on Wasilla-Fishhook near Watana. Jessica Noble, 21, of Montana was northbound on Wasilla-Fishhook in a 2000 silver Ford Taurus. Noble’s vehicle struck a moose when the moose stepped into the roadway. Noble was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision and reported no injuries. Noble’s vehicle sustained more than $5,000 in damage.
Feb. 1, 8:22 p.m.: Troopers responded to a reported motor vehicle collision involving four vehicles at the intersection of Parks Highway and Vienna Woods Access near Wasilla. A 1997 Ford Explorer operated by Michael Johnston, 20, of Houston was eastbound on the Parks Highway when he failed to stop and rear-ended a 1996 Chevrolet Metro operated by Shaila Edwards, 18, of Big Lake, which was stopped on the Parks Highway to make a left turn onto Vienna Woods. The Chevrolet Metro then crossed into the westbound lane of the Parks Highway and struck a 1997 Jeep Cherokee operated by Cheryl Covey, 40, of Wasilla and a 1992 GMC 1500 operated by John Baker, 22, of Wasilla. Both the Cherokee and the GMC 1500 were westbound on the Parks Highway. All operators reported to be wearing their seatbelts and all vehicles received heavy damage and were towed from the scene. Edwards was transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital where she was treated for her injuries. Johnston was issued a citation for failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision.
Feb. 2, 1:25 p.m.: Troopers responded to a single-vehicle collision along the Palmer-Wasilla Highway near Irwin Loop in Palmer. Thirty-three-year-old Jody L. Ingram was traveling westbound along the Palmer-Wasilla Highway when she lost control of her tan 2003 Jeep and skidded off the road and down an embankment striking a tree. Ingram was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the collision The passengers in the vehicle sustained only minor injuries. All occupants reported wearing seatbelts. Ingram’s vehicle was totaled in the collision. Ingram was arrested at the scene and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where she was to be released to a sober third party.
Feb. 2, 8 a.m.: Troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a moose at Mile 47 of the Parks Highway. A 2000 Chevy Cavalier operated by Brent Hershey, 28, of Houston was eastbound on the Parks Highway when he struck a moose. Hershey was transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. All parties involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of collision. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $4,000.
Feb. 2, 5:51 a.m.: Troopers responded to the intersection of Farmers Loop and Palmer-Fishhook for a report of a vehicle collision between a truck and moose. David Freer, 53, of Wasilla was northbound on Palmer-Fishhook when he struck a moose in the road in his 2001 black Chevy Silverado. Freer was not injured and reported wearing his seatbelt. Freer’s truck is estimated to have $5,000 in damages.
Feb. 2, 11:49 a.m.: Troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision with injuries on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway near Local 301 Road. Julie Santamarie, 53, of Palmer was driving westbound on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway in a blue Ford pickup when she lost control of the vehicle and swerved into the opposite lane. Carol Akerelrea, 54, of Anchorage was traveling eastbound in her gold Subaru when she was struck head-on by the blue pickup. Akerelrea was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for unknown injuries. Damage to both vehicles is estimated at $3,000. Santamarie was cited for failure to exercise due care to avoid collision.
