HOUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

WARRANT ARREST

Feb. 19: Police arrested Steve Smith, 57, of Big Lake for two outstanding warrants. Smith was transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded.

Feb. 19: Police arrested Lucas Smith, 25, of Big Lake for an outstanding warrant. Smith was transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

WARRANT ARREST

Feb. 21, 7:56 p.m.: Troopers in Palmer arrested Hector McConkey, 21, of Copper Center for two outstanding arrest warrants after he was contacted at Seldon Road and Wasilla-Fishhook Road as a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop. McConkey had two outstanding $150 arrest warrants for failure to appear for a pretrial conference on an original charge of habitual minor consuming alcohol.

Feb. 20, 11:20 p.m.: Troopers arrested Danny Braden, 29, of Wasilla for a failure to appear warrant on the original charge of driving while his license suspended. Braden was contacted by troopers investigating a disturbance at a residence in Wasilla. Braden was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded into their custody. Bail was set at $1,000 cash only.

Feb. 21, 11:25 p.m.: Troopers contacted Zackariah Parrish, 24, of Willow during a traffic stop for an equipment violation on the Parks Highway near Lamont Way. Parrish was issued a summons for driving while his license is suspended and released on scene. The vehicle was released to licensed driver.   

Feb. 21, 11:05 p.m.: The trooper South Central DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Church Road and Spruce Street in Wasilla for an equipment violation. Kyle C. Hatfield, 20, of Wasilla was found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended out-of-state driver license. Hatfield was issued a summons to appear in the Palmer Court for driving while his license is suspended and released from the scene.

Feb. 21, 8:15 p.m.: Troopers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Bendapole Road and Fishhook Road on a 1987 Toyota pickup truck for an equipment violation. Richard Dietrich, 29, of Talkeetna was issued a citation for the equipment violation and a summons to appear in court for driving while license revoked.  

DUI

Feb. 21, 11:22 p.m.: The trooper South Central DUI Enforcement Team responded to a reported suspicious male walking on private property near Mile 16 of Knik-Goose Bay Road without any shoes. On arrival, the male subject was contacted walking on Knik-Goose Bay Road away from a vehicle in the ditch near Mile 16. Daniel L. Jones, 22, of Wasilla was found to have been operating the vehicle found in the ditch. Jones was arrested for driving under the influence and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held until released to a sober adult third party.

Feb. 22, 2:25 a.m.: Troopers stopped a red 1995 Honda Accord on Ellen Street in Palmer for a moving violation. Bruce E. Chandler II, 27, of Palmer was arrested for driving while impaired and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held on $2,500 bail.

Feb. 21, 1:43 a.m.: The trooper South-Central  DUI Enforcement Team contacted Richard Anthony Burks, 33, of Wasilla after the vehicle he occupied was observed stopped on the side of the road near Mile 46 of the Parks Highway in Wasilla. Burks was arrested for driving under the influence and driving while his license is revoked. Burks was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held on a $5,000 bail.

MVC

Feb. 22, 5:59 a.m.: Troopers responded to Trunk Road near the intersection of Blue Lupine Drive for a report of a motor vehicle collision. April Mosher-Cushman, 50, of Palmer was driving west on Trunk Road when she lost control of a 2003 Chevrolet S10 and collided with the guard rail. Mosher-Cushman reported wearing her seatbelt and was uninjured. Mosher-Cushman’s vehicle suffered approximately $1,500 in damage. Damage to the guard rail was estimated at $200 and DOT was notified.

PROBATION VIOLATION

Feb. 22, 2:25 a.m.: Troopers stopped a red 1995 Honda Accord on Ellen Street in Palmer, for a moving violation. The passenger, 28-year-old Rashad D. Hinson of Palmer, was in violation of his probation by allegedly being intoxicated and consuming alcoholic beverages while at a licensed establishment. Hinson was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held without bail pending a petition to revoke probation by the Palmer Probations Office.

RECKLESS

ENDANGERMENT

Feb. 20, 11:20 p.m.: Troopers arrested Bryce Jones, 22, of Wasilla for reckless endangerment (domestic violence), driving while his license is suspended and misuse of plates. Jones was contacted by troopers who were investigating a disturbance at a residence in Wasilla. Jones was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded into their custody pending his arraignment.    

THEFT

Feb. 13, 6:51 a.m.: Troopers responded to a theft at the Road Side Inn at Mile 49.5 of the Parks Highway. An employee reported that when she showed up for work at 4 a.m. she noticed a side door to the Inn had been pried open. Investigation revealed damage to a jukebox and two doors, and stolen money and cigarettes. The owner estimated $5,000 cash was stolen along with $250 in cigarettes. He said possibly $10,000 worth of damages was done to the building and equipment.

Feb. 21, 11:15 a.m.: Troopers received a report of a theft of a 1986 Arctic Cat Cheetah snowmachine. Sometime between 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 16 and 9 p.m. on Feb. 17, the Arctic Cat was removed from the half-mile mark of Pipeline Road in Wasilla. The snowmachine had broken down and was left at this location until the owner could return to repair it. Investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact the troopers at 745-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.  

WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

VANDALISM

Feb. 19: Police responded to the Bumpus Soccer Fields for a report of vandalism.  A 24-year-old Wasilla man parked his truck at about 1 p.m.  When he returned at about 1:30 p.m., he discovered someone had thrown a rock through the rear window of his truck. The rock impacted the windshield and also broke it. Damaged is estimated to be at least $500.

WARRANT ARREST

Feb. 19: Police responded to a residence on Success for a disturbance. A records check on Shelia Flanders, 19, of Wasilla revealed there was a $350 dollar warrant for her arrest. The warrant was for failing to appear in court on an original charge of minor consuming alcohol.

PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

DUI

Feb. 15: Police arrested Scott Ivanoff, 34, of Palmer for driving under the influence. Ivanoff was contacted after the four-wheeler he was driving was stopped for a violation. Ivanoff was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where bail was set at $1,000 cash with the conditions that he is not to consume alcohol, be in bars or liquor stores and he is to obey all laws.

Feb. 16: Police attempted to stop Charles S. Hintsala, 46, of Palmer for operating a snowmachine on the street within the city of Palmer. Hintsala refused to stop and fled the area southbound on the Glenn Highway. While police officers were attempting to contact Hintsala, he started to cross the Glenn Highway in front of a police car that had its emergency lights on and HIntsala’s snowmachine collided with the front of the police vehicle. Hintsala was treated at Mat-Su Regional Hospital for injuries he received during the accident. Following treatment, Hintsala was lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $10,000 cash-only bail for felony driving under the influence, felony eluding, reckless driving and driving while his license is revoked.

Feb. 17: Police arrested Jamie Lee Kelley, 32, of Anchorage. During a stop for equipment violation, Kelley was found to be driving under the influence and driving while his license is revoked. A computer check revealed Kelley also had a $250  warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of driving without insurance. He was remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held in lieu of the warrant amount and an additional $5,000 bail for the new charges. His passenger and registered owner of the vehicle, Janet Sarah Johnson, 22, of Anchorage was issued a summons for permitting an unauthorized person to drive and released from the scene.

DWLCSR

Feb. 15: Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a passenger in the vehicle not wearing his or her safety belt. The driver was identified as Kendal E. Bucholz, 25, of Palmer. Bucholz was found to be driving with a suspended driver license and was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Bucholz was issued a citation for no insurance and his passenger a citation for not wearing his safety belt. Bucholz was held in lieu of $750 bail.
