Vera Offiler

Palmer resident Vera Helena Offiler, 79, passed away of cancer peacefully Feb. 28, 2008 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family.

Offiler was born April 3, 1928 in Offenbach, Germany. She came to Alaska in 1948 and resided in Anchorage from 1948 to 1981 and Palmer from 1981 to 2008.

She worked for the district engineers and Alaska copy center. She loved trout fishing, traveling and putting puzzles together.

Her family states, “She absolutely loved Alaska, loved her children and grandchildren and she, too, was dearly loved by them.” Her son-in-law states that he “could never, ever have asked for a better mother-in-law.”

She is survived by her husband, Frank Offiler; daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Jon Martin; son Brian Buck; grandchildren Joshua Martin, Cami Meyer, B.J. Buck, Crystal Buck; four great-grandchildren; and sister Ingra Buchholdt.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
