Wasilla resident Jim Mark Stone died March 11, 2008, at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage of a stroke. He was 53.

A service in celebration of Stone’s life will be held at 11 a.m. today, Sunday, March 16 at Adventist Church in Wasilla. Lunch will follow.

Pastor Jim Kack will officiate and there will be no graveside service. A private family service will be held at a later date. Pallbearers will be Tim Stone, Tom Stone, Art Stone and James Stone.

Stone was born Feb. 6, 1955, in Roseburg, Ore., and moved to Alaska in 1986, settling first in Eagle River.

Through Stone’s Automotive, he was self-employed. A member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Moose Lodge, Stone enjoyed fishing, watching old Western movies, bonfire get-togethers, his grandchildren and helping people.

He was a dear friend and a loving brother who loved to help people. He would, without passing judgment, help anyone in need and found great joy in doing so. His family looks forward to meeting him again in heaven, they said.

Stone is survived by his wife, Kathy Stone of Wasilla; mother Leona Barett of Kingman, Ariz.; sisters Louise Marshall of Bakersfield, Calif., and Ruth Stone; brother Art Stone of Walton, Ore.; daughters Brandee Stone of Palmer and Jessica Stone of Wasilla; sons James Stone and Wayne Stone, both of Wasilla; granddaughters Dandee Stone and Shy-Anna Stone of Palmer, and Mackenzie Stone and Skyla Stone of Ketchikan; and grandsons Alex Beach of Palmer and Chevy Stone and Brodie Stone of Wasilla.

He was preceded in death by his father Chuck Stone; grandmother Suzie Davis; brother Melvin; sister Rose Suzan Stone; and friend Wayne McNeese.

Memorial contributions can be sent to Brandee Stone, P.O. Box 3371, Palmer, AK 99654.
