March 12, 10:24 p.m.: Troopers responded to a disturbance at a residence off Montana Creek Road. Ronald Hebert, 47, of Willow allegedly assaulted a family member by causing her fear of imminent physical injury. Hebert also took the phone away from the victim when she attempted to call 911. Further investigation revealed Hebert was intoxicated, in violation of court-ordered conditions of release. Hebert fled the residence prior to troopers arrival. Trooper K-9 Roelle responded to the scene. Hebert was tracked approximately one-half mile and was apprehended by K-9 Roelle while Hebert was hiding in a vehicle. Hebert was arrested and remanded into Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility, where he was held without bail.

DWLCSR

March 10, 5:57 a.m.: Troopers stopped a red Chevy Impala for failure to stop at stop sign on Settlers Bay Drive at Knik-Goose Bay Road in Wasilla. Cesar Yanez, 33, of Wasilla was driving on a license suspended for failure to pay child support. Yanez was issued a summons to appear in court at a later date and released from the scene.

March 13, 8:08 p.m.: Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a red 1990 Isuzu Trooper on Parks Highway near Tommy Moe in Wasilla for driving with no headlights on during hours of darkness. Lorelle Szybnski, 19, of Wasilla did not have a valid driver license or vehicle insurance. Szybnski was issued a summons and released at the scene.

MVC

March 11, 8:45 p.m.: Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Palmer-Fishhook Road. Crystal Limbaugh, 26, of Palmer was northbound on Palmer-Fishhook Road approaching Gordy Drive when a moose ran out from the side of the road, striking the passenger side of her 2002 Mercedes SUV. Limbaugh was wearing her seatbelt at the time of collision and suffered no injuries. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

March 11, 10:02 p.m.: Troopers responded to a vehicle rollover off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway near Columbus. Kenny Carlson, 18, of Palmer lost control of his vehicle and slid into the ditch causing it to roll onto its side and strike a light pole. Carlson reported wearing his seatbelt and did not receive any injuries. The vehicle was released at the scene to the registered owner.

March 13, 8:55 p.m.: Troopers responded to Parks Highway near Marigold for a reported motor vehicle collision. Stuart Meyer, 55, of Big Lake was driving a 2004 blue Ford Explorer northbound on the Parks Highway when his vehicle struck a moose that entered the roadway. Meyer was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision and did not receive any injuries. Meyer’s vehicle sustained over $3,000 damage. The moose was dispatched and was donated to local charity.

THEFT

March 11, 7:30 p.m.: Troopers responded to a theft at a residence on Hayfield Road. The owner of the residence said someone had entered his garage through an unlocked side door and had stolen his gun safe, which contained several firearms and $20,000. Investigation revealed there had been no forced entry into the residence. The next-door neighbor reported seeing a newer model light-colored Chevrolet extended cab pickup leaving the residence with a safe in the back of the truck. Investigation is continuing pending further leads.        

March 12, 6:30 p.m.: Troopers responded to a residence on Loyer Lane in Palmer for a reported burglary. Approximately $1,000 in household items was stolen. The case is under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the troopers at 745-2131 or the Matsu Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

March 13, 7:31 p.m.: Troopers received a report of a burglary on Sue Lane in Wasilla. Investigation revealed an unknown person(s) entered the front door of the residence between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 13. A search of the residence by the owner revealed a pistol had been removed from the residence. PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

WARRANT ARREST

March 10: Police arrested Daniel K. Hanohano, 32, of Wasilla at the Peak Inn Motel on a $5,000 outstanding warrant for the charge of theft II.

March 10: Kyle J. Ducker, 21, of Anchorage was arrested in the lobby of the police department for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for arraignment for the original charge of no insurance and driving while his license is revoked. Ducker was remanded into the custody of Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with bail set at $300, cash only.

MCA

March 10: Police were contacted in reference to two juvenile females, 17, of Palmer who were found intoxicated by their parents. Douglas Rauchenstein, 20, of Palmer had provided the alcohol to the juveniles and was present with them while they drank it. Both juvenile females were issued a summons to appear in court for minor consuming alcohol. The charges of furnishing alcohol to minors and contributing to the delinquency of a minor are being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.

March 11: Following a traffic stop for tinted windows and expired registration, officers contacted Jared Jamison, 18, of Sutton. Jamison was cited and released for minor allegedly consuming alcohol, minor operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol and numerous traffic citations. A passenger in the vehicle, David Houser, 18, of Sutton was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to comply with Alcohol Safety Action Program requirements and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility; the additional charge of minor consuming alcohol was also added against Houser. A 13-year-old male from Sutton was also arrested for misconduct involving a controlled substance IV after he was found in possession of more than 1 pound of marijuana. The juvenile was released to his mother.

March 14: Police summonsed Kyle David Wilson, 20, of Chugiak for minor allegedly consuming alcohol, habitual offender, following a traffic stop for driving with the headlights off. Wilson was given a mandatory court date and released at the scene. Raymond Lee Johnson, 28, of Palmer is being charged with furnishing alcohol to minors.   

March 16: Police summonsed a 14-year-old boy from Palmer for minor allegedly consuming alcohol following a traffic stop. Tanya Michelle Hollingsworth, 35, of Palmer allegedly furnished alcohol to the juvenile male. Charges of furnishing alcohol to minors, contributing to the delinquency of minors, and reckless endangerment are being forwarded to the District Attorneys Office on Hollingsworth.

DUI

March 11: Police arrested Jacob Kooy, 25, of Palmer for alleged felony driving under the influence. Kooy was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $2,500 cash or corporate with the conditions that he be released to a court-approved third party, that he makes all his court appearances and he is not to consume alcohol, be in bars or liquor stores, and he is not to drive.

March 14: Police arrested Jessica Lorraine Russell, 26, of Palmer for allegedly driving under the influence. Russell was contacted following a R.E.D.D.I report. Russell was held at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $250 cash or corporate bail with conditions to be released when sober or to a sober adult, no drugs or alcohol, not to drive without a valid license, registration and insurance.

MISUSE OF PLATES

March 11: Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Walter L. Reindl, 48, of Palmer for a DUI investigation. Reindl was also issued a summons for misuse of plates.

March 12: Police contacted Anne M. Coady, 30, of Talkeetna during a traffic stop on her vehicle for an equipment violation. Coady was issued a summons for alleged misuse of plates and was released on scene.

DWLCSR / NVOL

March 11: Lisa E. Burt, 37, of Palmer was issued a summons to appear in court for  allegedly driving without a valid license after the vehicle she was driving was stopped for an equipment violation.

March 12: Officers recognized and stopped Steve Catron, 35, of Palmer for driving while his license is allegedly revoked. Catron was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $2,500 cash-only bail.

VANDALISM

March 11: A 19-year-old Palmer man reported to police that all the windows on his vehicle had been broken out. Mickleson vehicle had been left unattended on the walking trail behind Carrs Quality Center in Palmer. Estimated costs in damages is $2,500.

THEFT

March 12: Police responded to the In & Out Deli for a report of a male who had consumed food without payment. Orrin T. Pinard, 20, of Talkeetna was arrested for theft IV and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility in lieu of $100.

ASSAULT

March 12: Police responded to a residence in Palmer in reference to a possible suicidal 36-year-old female. Officers contacted the female and her 34-year-old live-in boyfriend. As officers started to leave they could hear a disturbance coming from inside the residence and witnessed the female hit the male. The female was arrested for domestic violence assault IV and lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with no bail.

RECKLESS DRIVING

March 16: Dustin Tylor Daniels, 18, of Wasilla was contacted after being reported as allegedly speeding, passing in a no-passing zone, and driving erratically. He was issued summons for reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and cited for failure to stay on the right side of a divided highway and released from the scene.

HOUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

VIOLATING CONDITIONS

OF RELEASE

March 18: Police conducted a traffic stop on Justin Dewolf, 18, of Anchorage for failing to reduce his high beams. The passenger in the vehicle, Angelia Starks, 18, of Anchorage, was on a court order not to be in the presence of Dewolf. Starks was taken into custody and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility for the charge of violation of conditions of release. Bail was set at $500 cash or bond.

NVOL

March 17: Police conducted a traffic stop on Cassandra Blawatt, 18, of Palmer for swerving all over the road. Blawatt had an instructional permit and nobody else in the vehicle. Blawatt was summonsed to appear in Palmer District Court on April 1.

WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

ASSAULT

March 13: Police were called to the parking lot of Pet Zoo for an assault that occurred. Police took a report from a 27-year-old Wasilla man, who alleged a Hispanic male had approached him, argued over money and hit him in the face five times. The man refused medical treatment and the case is still being investigated.

SHOPLIFTING

March 13: Police responded to ShopRite for a shoplifter in custody. Kevin Jainese, 19, of Wasilla, allegedly took a pack of meat valued at $20.52 then broke a glass window while fighting with store employees. Jainese was remanded at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility for criminal mischief and theft. Bail was set at $2,500 cash or corporate.

March 14: Police received a call from an employee at Fred Meyer stating Lua Smith, 29, of Wasilla was in custody for alleged shoplifting. The total estimated value of the items taken was $71.97. Charges of theft III will be forwarded to District Attorney’s office.

WARRANT ARREST

March 13: Police arrested Edward Thomas, 54, of Wasilla on a felony warrant. The charges were two counts of forgery II and three counts of theft II. Bond was set at $5,000 cash or corporate.

March 16: Police conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. The passenger Justin Jacobs, 25, of Big Lake was arrested for an outstanding warrant for failure to serve time, on an original charge of driving under the influence and failing to stop at the direction of police officer II. Jacobs was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and booked in without bail.

HIT AND RUN

March 14: A hit-and-run collision was reported at Lucille Street and Nelson Avenue. Rapunzel Collins, 28, of Wasilla was driving a red 2005 Dodge Neon northbound on Lucille Street when she stopped at the intersection with Nelson Avenue. Upon Collins proceeding into the intersection, a 1982 Ford F-150 pickup, traveling east on Nelson Avenue, failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with the front left side of the Neon. The driver of the pickup left the scene without stopping. Collins received multiple lacerations to her face and an injury to her right eye. Troopers located the suspect vehicle about an hour later during a disturbance call. The driver of the suspect vehicle was identified as Jonathan Richmond, 29, of Wasilla who was arrested for driving under the influence by troopers. There wasn’t any record of a valid driver license for Richmond. The pickup matched the description given by witnesses and there was corresponding damage to both the pickup and the Neon. Richmond stated he did not recall the collision. Troopers transported Richmond to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held in lieu of $51,000 bail and a third-party custodian requirement. Police filed charges of assault I, leaving the scene of an injury accident, failure to give immediate notice of an accident and no valid operator license against Richmond through the District Attorney’s office.
