WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

DUI

April 2: Police received a complaint regarding suspicious circumstances on Crestwood Avenue. Brian Tomes, 41, of Wasilla was transferred to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $10,000 cash-only plus a court-approved, third-party custodian for a driving under the influence charge and $1,000 cash or corporate for a charge of driving while his license was suspended.

April 2: Police conducted a traffic stop on a pickup at Snohomish and Peck. Morris Mathews, 65, of Wasilla was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $2,500 cash-only, plus a court-approved, third-party custodian.

April 3: Police received a call reporting a vehicle in the ditch located in front of 2331 Melanie. Alicia Storie, 22, of Wasilla was charged with driving under the influence and taken to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with bail set at $1,000.

April 4: Police conducted a traffic stop on a white GMC truck for speeding and found probable cause to believe James Smart, 28, of Wasilla was driving under the influence of alcohol. A check of Alaska public Safety Information records also showed Smart had a no-bail warrant for failing to report to jail to serve a sentence on a disorderly conduct conviction. Smart was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $2,500 cash or corporate plus court-approved, third-party custody with other standard DUI conditions of release.

MVC

April 3: Police responded to the Parks Highway near Crusey Street for a reported traffic collision. A 1990 Jeep Cherokee operated by Therese Urgitus, 20, of Wasilla struck the rear of a 2006 gray Chevy Trailblazer operated by Jill Baker, 42, of Wasilla. Urgitus was issued a citation for failing to exercise due care to avoid a collision. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

VANDALISM

March 31: A 44-year-old Palmer woman reported her vehicle’s front passenger window had been broken out in the Palmer Fred Meyer parking lot.

April 2: Police responded to Carrs after two males ignited a road flare in the restroom.

MVC

March 31: A vehicle driven by Anthoney Ridges, 37, of Anchorage rear ended a vehicle driven by John Hoffman, 24, of Anchorage on the Glenn Highway at the intersection of Arctic Avenue. Ridges’ vehicle sustained heavy front end damage, estimated at $3,000, and was towed from the scene. All parties were wearing seatbelts and did not report any injuries. Ridges was issued a citation for operator to exercise due care to avoid a collision.

DWLCSR

April 1: While conducting traffic enforcement through the Click It or Ticket program, a vehicle driven by Dustin D. Collins, 22, of Sutton was stopped for an equipment violation. Collins was arrested for driving while his license was revoked and lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $1,000 bail.

April 1: While conducting traffic enforcement through the Click It or Ticket program, officers stopped a vehicle driven by Scott T. Blayney, 19, of Palmer of whom they had prior knowledge that his license was suspended. Blayney was issued a summons to appear in court and released at the scene.

April 2: Shaun Poirot, 28, of Palmer was stopped for an equipment violation and arrested for driving while his license was suspended. He was remanded at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $200 bail.

April 3: While conducting traffic enforcement through the Click It or Ticket program, officers stopped a vehicle driven by Travis A. D. Barber, 19, of Palmer, of whom they had prior knowledge his license was suspended. Barber was placed under arrest and lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial on $500 bail.

April 4: Andrea L. Dunnigan, 41, of Palmer was arrested for driving while her license was suspended after she was pulled over following a report of a suspicious vehicle and on a $250 warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on an original charge of driving while her license was suspended. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $500, cash or corporate bond.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

April 2: Jackie A. Dvorak, 26, of Palmer was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct at 112 S. Alaska Street. She was remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $1,000 cash or corporate bond.

WARRANT ARREST

April 2: Police arrested Roger T. Harvey, 20, of Palmer on a $400 warrant for failure to appear for an Alcohol Safety Action Program on the original charge of minor consuming alcohol and minor operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol

VIOLATING CONDITIONS OF RELEASE

April 3: Jeffery A. Churchill, 42, of Palmer was placed under arrest for allegedly violating court-ordered conditions of release, reference no alcohol and third-party custodian. Churchill was transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held without bail until arraignment.

RUNAWAYS / MISSING PERSONS

April 5: A juvenile male, 17, of Palmer was reported as a runaway by his 57-year-old father.

April 5: A juvenile male, 15, of Palmer was reported as a runaway by his 36-year-old mother.

MICS

April 6: Police arrested Jeremiah Lee Corbin, 29, of Wasilla for alleged misconduct involving a controlled substance IV and a $200 cash-only warrant for failure to appear for arraignment following a traffic stop for not using his turn signal. Corbin was held without bail pending arraignment on the misconduct involving a controlled substance charge.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

ASSAULT

April 4, 11:05 p.m.: Troopers responded to a residence off West Hibbard Road in Big Lake for an assault in progress. Jason S. Allen, 28, of Sutton allegedly assaulted his fiance, their 7-month-old son and one other female when a verbal argument turned into a physical altercation. Allen was  arrested on three counts of assault IV and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held without bail.

MVC

April 4, 8:15 p.m.: Troopers responded to a collision near Mile 13 of Knik-Goose Bay Road in Wasilla. Ronald Briggs, 65, of Wasilla veered into the southbound lane as he traveled north towards Wasilla on Knik-Goose Bay Road. Briggs’ red 2005 Suburban sustained extensive damage when it struck the side of the 2006 Mack concrete pump truck driven by R.J. Stevens, 46, of Wasilla. Stevens was driving south on Knik-Goose Bay Road. The impact caused hydraulic and fuel tanks on the concrete truck to rupture. The Department of Environmental Conservation was notified. Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division assisted in the investigation. Briggs was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for evaluation by EMS. Both parties reported wearing seatbelts, and no citations were issued.

April 5 4:20 a.m.: The South-Central DUI Enforcement Team responded to a single vehicle collision near Mile 39 of the Glenn Highway in Palmer. Luke Foley, 24, of Anchorage was traveling northbound on the Glenn Highway when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a light pole. Foley was arrested and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on the charge of driving under the influence and was held on a bail of $1,000. Foley was not injured in the collision but the light pole and vehicle sustained substantial damage.

DUI

April 5, 2:55 a.m.: The South-Central DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle on Bonnie Jim Street in Wasilla for an equipment violation. Jesse E. Diamond, 24, of Wasilla was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Diamond was also found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to satisfy judgment for the original charge of theft III. Diamond was arrested for DUI and the outstanding warrant and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was held on $2,750 bail.

April 5, 1:11 a.m.: The South-Central DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Bogard Road and Main Street in Wasilla for an equipment violation. Jessie Dockins, 31, of Wasilla was arrested for driving under the influence, remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and held on a bail of $1,000.

April 5, 4:20 a.m.: Troopers contacted Kevin O. Lopez, 31, of Anchorage on the Parks Highway and Lamont Drive in Wasilla during a traffic stop for erratic driving. Lopez was arrested for driving under the influence, transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Bail is set at $1,000 cash or corporate, and he must be sober before release.

April 5, 11:41 p.m.: The South-Central DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle on Seldon near Anoka in Wasilla for erratic driving. Michael Combs, 53, of Wasilla was arrested for driving under the influence and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and held on $1,000 bail.

April 6, 3:59 p.m.: Troopers responded to a vehicle in the ditch at Mile 2.5 Edgerton-Parks Road. Danny L. Ryherd, 57, of Palmer was found to be operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Ryherd was transported by ambulance to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for evaluation. During the transport Ryherd assaulted medic Pamela Freeman, 27, of Palmer by causing physical injury. Ryherd was arrested for DUI and assault IV and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where he was remanded. Bail was set at $2,000.

April 6, 6:30 p.m.: Troopers contacted Fred Bowers, 58, of Big Lake while he was operating a 1992 Toyota sedan on Big Lake Road near the Parks Highway. He was contacted in reference to an assault report. Bowers was subsequently arrested and booked at the Mat- Su Pre-Trial Facility on a charge of driving under the influence. Bowers bail was set at $5,000 cash or corporate.   

DWLCSR

April 5, 11:35 p.m.: Troopers stopped a vehicle near the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and Parks Highway in Wasilla for a moving violation. Kaylene Rydlund, 40, of Wasilla was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended driver license. Rydlund was issued a summons to appear in court at a later date and released form the scene.

April 6, 11:45 a.m.: Troopers responded to a report of a minor motor vehicle collision on Meadow Lakes Road near Irish Setter Circle, Wasilla. Investigation revealed Charles E. Shortridge, 57, of Wasilla had a revoked operator license. Shortridge was issued a summons to appear and released at the scene. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.  

WARRANT ARREST

April 6, 2:56 a.m.: The South-Central DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Wasilla-Fishhook and Aspen in Wasilla for an equipment violation. Erek Berg, 22, of Wasilla had an arrest warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of driving while his license is revoked. Berg was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and held on a bail of $750.

ROBBERY / THEFT

April 6. 3:45 a.m.: Troopers responded to report of a theft at 49th State Street and Palmer-Wasilla Highway. A juvenile female from Wasilla reported an unknown person reached in her car and took her purse. Through additional information and the description of the suspect, troopers were able to locate Angelo Reale, 23, of Palmer. Investigation revealed Reale was responsible for taking the purse. Further investigation revealed Reale tampered with evidence by burning the shoes he was wearing when he committed the crime. Reale was charged with robbery, theft, tampering with physical evidence and assault. Reale was arrested, transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Reale’s bail was set at $10,000 cash and court-approved third party.  

April 6, 3:25 p.m.: Troopers received a call from a 60-year-old Wasilla man who reported a vehicle theft on Reisner Loop in Wasilla. Investigation revealed an unknown person(s) removed the complaintant’s 2007 Polaris 330 Magnum sometime on April 6.
