LORENE JONDAHL

Lorene Marie Jondahl, 83, passed away June 23, 2008, at Mat-Su Regional Hospital due to lung cancer.  A celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Farm Loop Christian Center in Palmer. A viewing will precede at noon. John Wilson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Paul Wardlow, Joshua Elliott, James Wardlow, Frank Wardlow, Billy Joe Wardlow and Christopher Shivley.

Jondahl was born Dec. 20, 1924, in Fargo, N.D. Her Alaska residency began in 1959 in Kenai. She attended nursing college in Anchorage. After a brief stay in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, she also lived in Anchorage and finally Wasilla. Jondahl was 79 when she retired from nursing.

Her hobbies included crafting, especially making dream catchers and afghans, quilting, knitting and beading. She really enjoyed craft fairs.

Her family stated, “She was a great mother and grandmother. She grew up in Fargo, N.D., and it was there she met and married Dale Wardlow. Together they had three wonderful children, James, Gene and Jerry. After separating, she later married Arnold Jondahl and spent many wonderful years together until his death. Jondahl enjoyed traveling and helping others. Her favorite place to travel to in her motorhome was Lake Superior in Minnesota. She was very family oriented and loved helping raise her grandchildren and being around her great-grandchildren.

Jondahl is survived by sons James Wardlow of Texas and Jerry Wardlow of Eloy, Ariz; grandchildren Margie and Michael Wardlow of Anchorage, Gerri Elliot of Wasilla, Paul Wardlow of Wasilla, Suckie Wardlow of Anchorage, Rose Harrel of Wasilla, James Wardlow of Bethel, Billy Joe Wardlow of Seward and Frank Wardlow of Anchorage; great-grandchildren Krystal Maea of Wasilla, Joshua Elliot of Wasilla and Nicole Elliot of Big Lake; great-great-grandchildren Jazmina Maea of Wasilla, Brodie Demoski of Wasilla and James Wardlow of Bethel; and many more friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Dale Wardlow; husband, Arnold Jondahl; and daughter Gene Harrel.
