JOHN HEIMSATH

John “Jack” Heimsath, 27, passed away June 29, 2008 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

 Heimsath was a life-long resident of Alaska and he attended West Valley High School. He worked as a fabricator in mining and spent his free time enjoying hobbies such as snowmachining, books, movies, and video role-playing games.

“Community service was only done by Jack when sentenced to do so,” his family wrote.

Heimsath was preceded in death by his brother Christopher P. Heimsath; grandparents Paul and Josephine Heimsath, and Frank and Evadean Johnson.

He is survived by mother Joanne Heimsath of Anchorage; father Paul (Skip) Heimsath of Fairbanks; sister Diane Witt of Wasilla; brother-in-law Cory Witt of Wasilla; nephews Wyatt Witt and Walker Witt of Wasilla; best friends Stuart Young of Fairbanks and Shane Corey of Anchorage; and constant companion “Jake” the bulldog of Fairbanks.

A service was held July 3 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbanks. A second service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at Anchorage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Angelus in South Anchorage.

The family states, “Please always remember him and his canine companion. ‘Jake’ will miss him dearly.”
