WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT

DUI

July 4, 9:09 p.m.: Robert Broach, 47, Wasilla, stopped for speeding. Charges: felony DUI and DWLR. Bail, $10,000.

July 5, 4:27 a.m.: Angela Drury, 32, Wasilla waved down a passing police officer. Drury exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. Drury’s license was also revoked. Drury’s 12-year-old daughter was in the vehicle. A records check revealed Drury had previous DUI convictions and was on probation for a felony DUI. The vehicle had the wrong license plates displayed. Bail: $7,500 plus third-party custodian. Charges of felony DUI, endangering the welfare of a minor I and DWLR filed through the District Attorney. Adult probation office will also file a petition to revoke her probation. The juvenile was released to her grandfather.

July 6, 5 a.m., Parks Hwy. near Weber St.: A blue sedan driven by Crystal McPherson, 34, Anchorage was observed traveling 77 mph. Charge, DUI; bail, $250.

CAR FIRE

July 5, 6:50 a.m., Success: A man stated someone threw a firecracker into the front seat of his 1987 Ford van causing a fire. The Mat-Su Fire Department extinguished the fire. Damage, $1,200. Investigation continues.

MVC

July 5, 5:22 p.m., Parks Hwy. near Boundary St.: Eduardo Llanderal, 18, Anchorage, was driving west when he failed to notice traffic stopped for the red light. He rear-ended a vehicle driven by Melissa Grandy, 36, of Jacksonville,  Fla. No injuries. Llanderal citated for failing to exercise due care to avoid a collision.

ASSAULT

July 5, 8:28 p.m.: Arno Nyborg, 38, Wasilla, arrested for alleged domestic violence assault IV. No bail.

DWLCSR

July 6, 2:30 a.m., Knik-Goose Bay Rd. and Fairview Loop: William Campbell, 30, Wasilla, found in his vehicle with the driver’s door open and asleep at the wheel. Summons: DWLS.

FURNISHING ALCOHOL TO A MINOR

July 6, E. Pullman Ave.: Investigation led to the arrest of Brett Colyar, 31, Wasilla, for furnishing alcohol to a minor. Bail, $750.

ALASKA STATE TROOPERS

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER

July 6, 12:07 a.m.: David Fleming, 46, Palmer, stopped for an equipment violation and found to be violating a protective order because he was the respondent in a domestic violence protective order and he was in the same vehicle as the petitioner in the order.  Held without bail.

SEARCH AND RESCUE

July 6, 2:35 p.m., Talachulitna River: Michael McCarter, 42, Anchorage, reported to the Alaska State Troopers he and Rebecca Shaffer, 34, Anchorage, overturned their boat after hitting a log and were stranded. McCarter called from a satellite phone and provided their GPS coordinates. Helo 1 arrived on scene at 5:09 p.m., picked them up and transported them to Alaska Regional Medical Center in Anchorage where McCarter was treated for dehydration and hypothermia. Family members were notified.    

WARRANT ARREST

July 4, 9:10 a.m., Mile 49 Parks Hwy.: Desirae Butcher, 25, Wasilla, arrested on FTA warrant, original charge of DWLR. Bail, $250.

July 4, 10:40 a.m., Mile 52 Parks Hwy.: Clinton Poland, 39, Big Lake, for DWLR and two warrants for FTA, original charges of DWLR. Bail, $3,250.

July 2, 5:45 p.m., Ted Steven’s Int’l Airport: Carl Gage, 35, Wasilla, extradited from Riverside, Calif. Bench warrant bail, $40,000. Arrest warrant bail, $10,000.

July 7, 11:20 a.m.: Troopers contacted Isanti County Sheriff’s Office in Minnesota after receiving information that William R. Keller, 26, Wasilla, had a fugitive from justice warrant, original charges of deprive another of custodial/parental rights/conceal a minor, and was in the Wasilla area.  The warrant was confirmed and Minnesota would extradite from Alaska. Keller was contacted at 1 p.m. and held without bail.

July 8, 1:17 a.m.: Anthony Wells, 21, Palmer, contacted during disturbance and found to have an outstanding warrant for FTA, original charge of DWLS. Bail, $500.

ASSAULT

July 6, 8:48 p.m., Sullivan Rd.: Barry Dale Summers, 43, Palmer, allegedly assaulted a family member causing injury. Arrested for DV (domestic violence) assault IV. No bail.

BURGLARY / THEFT

July 4, 5:11 a.m., Paydirt Rd. near Merlin Dr., Houston: William Ray Welsh, 18, Anchorage, allegedly broke into a motor home and was confronted by a neighbor. Welsh fought with the neighbor prior to fleeing. Welsh had allegedly consumed alcohol, drove a motor vehicle after consuming, and did not have a valid license. Damage, $2,500. Bail, $5,000.

July 5, 6:17 a.m.: A 57-year-old Wasilla male reported his white Ford Aerostar van stolen between 6 p.m. July 4 and 6 a.m. July 5.

DWLCSR

July 4, 1:02 a.m., Mile 35 Parks Hwy.: Krystalle M. Howell, 21, North Pole, attempted to provide a false name. Further investigation revealed Howell was stopped at approximately 12:06 a.m. for speeding and issued a citation under the false name she was attempting to again provide. Charges: DWLR, two counts of false information and misconduct involving a controlled substance (MICS) VI. Bail, $1,000.

July 5, 4:25 a.m., Parks Hwy. near Hyer Rd.: Jason C. Dowell, 35, Wasilla, stopped for a moving violation. Citations: speeding and DWLR.

MVC

July 4, 2:27a.m., Palmer-Wasilla Hwy. near Jessica Brook Rd.: Rodney A. Hoover, 37, Wasilla, traveling westbound, was pulled across the eastbound lane when the weight in his overloaded trailer shifted. The shifting weight caused the trailer to flip onto its side before coming to rest on the eastbound shoulder. No injuries. Extensive damage.

July 3, 6:48 p.m., Parks Hwy. near Vine Rd.: A 17-year-old Anchorage male, was northbound and stopped for a line of traffic when Cynthia Coeville, 52, Willow, also northbound, did not see the teen stopped and rear-ended his vehicle. Seatbelts worn, no injuries. Several thousand in damage. Coeville cited for failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision.

July 4, 11:30 a.m., Mile 91.5 Parks Hwy.: Romy Byrd, 29, Talkeetna, was southbound when she became distracted by a bug inside her car, crossed the center line and caused William Hitchcock, 63, Anchorage, to take evasive action to avoid a collision; he subsequently lost control and rolled. Neither Byrd or passenger Annie Rauchenstein, 22, Talkeetna, were injured. Hitchcock and wife Carol, 61, Anchorage, sustained minor injuries. Treated on scene and released. Hitchcock’s vehicle a total loss.

    " #1. The guy who was arrested for violating a restraining order... by being in the same car with the complaintant. Wouldn't the complaintant have had to give their permission and/or willingly get in the car with him in the first place? I think that in situations like this, RO's should be revoked on the spot. What a waste of the court's time to go through everything to get the danged thing only to encourage the respondent to violate it.
