Frontiersman backs skateboarders

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Frontiersman Newspaper: Publisher Kari Sleight, Managing Editor Greg Johnson, and all of the staff who reported on the idea, inception and grand opening of the Palmer Skateboard facility. Our hometown newspaper was exceptionally generous by frequently reporting on the progress of this worthwhile project.

The city of Palmer now has an appropriate venue for skateboard and in-line skate athletes; embracing our children rather than ostracizing them from their chosen athletic outlet. Just as we have done for baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, ice skating, tennis and football, skateboarders now have a designated area to ply their skills.

Through positive reporting by the Frontiersman newspaper, enthusiasm and motivation remained at a high level for over two and one-half years. Thank you for sticking with us.

Mayor John Combs
