ELUDING
Aug. 23, 7:08 p.m., Mile 7 Knik-Goose Bay Rd.: An attempt was made to stop Jimmy Alford, 24, Wasilla, the driver of a three-wheeler on the road. Alford failed to stop, drove his ATV into the ditch, got stuck and was finally aprehended. Charges: felony DUI and DWLR. Bail, $10,000.
THEFT
Aug. 26, 4:54 p.m., Rainbow Lake: A 10-foot plastic boat was stolen. Value, $2,000.
Aug. 26, 3:35 p.m., Satisfied Dr.: The garage door was opened by force. A handgun and a 46-inch TV were stolen. Value, $2,000.
MICS
Aug. 25, 10:31 p.m., Mile 55 Glenn Hwy.: William Rosario as stopped for a moving violation. Rosario allegedly had a small amount of marijuana on his person. Summonsed for MICS (misconduct involving a controlled substance). Carlos Crespo, 32, Anchorage, a passenger, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and had a pistol by him. Crespo summonsed for MIW (misconduct involving weapons) IV and released.
DUI
Aug. 25, 9:07 p.m., Nelson Ave.: Shiina Akpik, 21, Wasilla, stopped for driving a four-wheeler in the road. Shiina Akpik was allegedly DUI. Bail, $250. Passenger Salomi Akpik, 19, Wasilla, had allegedly been consuming alcohol as well. Salomi Akpik summonsed for MCA (minor consuming alcohol).
Aug. 25, 11:08 p.m., Parks Hwy. and Rainbow St.: Tracy L. Hyder, 42, Wasilla, stopped for erratic driving. Charge: DUI. Bail, $500.
Aug. 25, 2:23 p.m.. Palmer-Wasilla Hwy. and Luke Rd.: Richard Hodge, 68, Wasilla, was traveling east, waiting to turn left. Carie Curran, 34, Palmer, rear ended Hodge’s vehicle. Curran left the scene and was contacted by troopers at Trunk Road. Curran was arrested for DUI and for leaving the scene of an accident. Bail, $2,000. Seatbelts worn; no injuries. Hodge’s vehicle sustained no damage; damage to Curran’s vehicle, $1,000.
Aug. 26, 6:18 p.m., Wasilla-Fishhook and Village Loop.: Cathy L. Atwell, 44, Anchorage, called in as a REDDI. Atwell was contacted stopped in the middle of the intersection, slumped over the wheel. Atwell refused to provide a breath sample; arrested for felony DUI, refusal and DWLR. Bail, $10,000.
Aug. 26, 10:46 p.m., Mile 36 Glenn Hwy.: Kyle B. Tritch, 26, Palmer, was stopped for speeding. Charge: DUI (driving under the influence). Bail, $250.
Aug. 27, 5:30 a.m., Mile 77 Parks Hwy.: Joseph Robert Peryalans, 53, Trapper Creek, was northbound when he lost control, left the roadway and collided head-on with a telephone/power pole. The collision resulted in significant front-end damage to the vehicle and the pole was knocked over causing live wires to stretch across the highway, closing the highway for approximately 30 minutes while emergency crews removed the live power lines. Damage to Peryalan’s vehicle, $10,000. MEA estimates damage to be $10,000. Peryalans cited for due care, charged with DUI. Bail, $1,500.
Aug. 28, 12:07 p.m., Mile 8 Knik-Goose Bay Rd.: Larry E. Jasek, 39, Anchorage, stopped for a moving violation. Jasek was allegedly DUI, and refused to provide a breath sample for a Datamaster test. Charged with DUI and refusal. Bail, $500.
MVC
Aug. 25, 1:24 p.m., Palmer-Wasilla Hwy., near Seward Meridian Pwky.: Jennifer Pagel, 32, Palmer, was driving eastbound. Tyler Yoder, 18, Palmer, attempted to turn left from the Tesoro Gas Station parking lot, failed to yield, and collided with Pagel’s vehicle. Damage to Pagel’s vehicle, $2,500. Damage to Yoder’s vehicle, $1,500. Seatbelts worn, no injuries. Yoder cited for failure to yield when entering a roadway from a non-roadway.
Aug. 27, 7:04 a.m., Bogard Rd. near Engstrom Rd.: A 16-year-old Wasilla girl was eastbound near Engstrom Road in her 1999 Ford Taurus when she rear-ended a 1998 Ford Escort driven by another 16-year-old Wasillan. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. No one was hurt. The driver of the Taurus was ticketed for not exercising due care. Both vehicles had more than $2,000 damage.
Aug. 28, 4:05 a.m., Mile 34.5 Glenn Highway: Raymond H. Roberts, 60, of Wasilla, was southbound when he lost control of his vehicle, went into the median and rolled several times before coming to rest in the northbound lanes. He was wearing his seatbelt and was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The vehicle was totaled.
