WASILLA — A Wasilla woman is hosting an auction that will benefit a Palmer man who is need of a double lung transplant.

The auction, that will include a tremendous variety of items, is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. at 3901 N. Preston Ave. in Wasilla, organizer Jodi Lawrence said this week.

A percentage of the proceeds will go toward the medical expenses of Troy Chapman, a 24-year-old Palmer man who is living with cystic fibrosis, an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 people in the United States, and clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatning lung infections, according to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Web site www.cff.org.

Chapman is currently living at the University of Washington Medical Center preparing for the double lung transplant.

Lawrence, who has known Troy’s father John for many years, said she has been planning to organize an auction to liquidate items she has on hand. After planning to hold the auction and knowing what the Troy Chapman and his family is going through, Lawrence said she wanted to use a piece of the proceeds to try to help the family out.

“We thought, let’s give something back,” Lawrence said. “What comes around, goes around. Every bit helps that family.”

Lawrence said items have also been donated for the auction, and she currently has a great deal of quality merchandise to be sold. Lawrence stressed the auction is far from a rummage sale and will include a bevy of high-end items.

The auction will include high-value antiques, collectible porcelain and Barbie dolls, tools, generators, beer steins, Fenton glass, Demin Day figurines and other limited edition collectibles.

“This is high dollar collectible stuff,” Lawrence said.

Webb Auction is conducting the sale, and Lawrence said owner Brad Webb will be donating a portion of his commission to the Chapman fund. There will also be food vendors, and a percentage of the profits from the food sales will be donated to Chapman.

Lawrence said the auction will be held inside a 6,000-sqaure foot building and there is plenty of parking for those who attend.

To get to the auction, take Lucille Street to Schrock Road, turn left on Schrock at the ‘T’ and follow with a left on Wilmington.
