She volunteered at many Alaska hospitals. She was an advocate of animal rescue and adoptions, and served on the Navy Wives Club committee as treasurer.
Fishing was her favorite hobby, in addition to showing her puppies. She did a variety of crafting and photography.
Her family stated, “Our mother, grandmother was very loving with her family and friends. She gave us a sense of adventure, taking us to see animals, beautiful landscapes, fishing and spending time together. She was very creative. Her friends were more than friends, they were her family. My mom loved her pets like they were her children. They were loved and well taken care of. My mother taught me to be kind to everyone, do all you can to help others. She gave her family encouragement in all things.”
