Inez Maupin, 73, died Aug. 26, 2008 at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer of natural causes.

Maupin was born June 13, 1935 in Hagarville, Ark. After graduating high school she attended Yakima City College of Washington and Alaska University, and received her associate degree.

She was a Navy wife of 25 years. She lived in Anchorage from 1977 to 2005 and then moved the family to their ranch home in Palmer.

She was a business owner of Nezlan Natural Health Products for Pets.

Maupin attended the Church of Latter Day Saints in Anchorage and Christian Calvary Chapel of Chino, Calif. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and Min Pin Club. She volunteered at many Alaska hospitals. She was an advocate of animal rescue and adoptions, and served on the Navy Wives Club committee as treasurer.

Fishing was her favorite hobby, in addition to showing her puppies. She did a variety of crafting and photography.

Her family stated, “Our mother, grandmother was very loving with her family and friends. She gave us a sense of adventure, taking us to see animals, beautiful landscapes, fishing and spending time together. She was very creative. Her friends were more than friends, they were her family. My mom loved her pets like they were her children. They were loved and well taken care of. My mother taught me to be kind to everyone, do all you can to help others. She gave her family encouragement in all things.”

She is survived by her only daughter Susan Crawbuck and son-in-law Michael Crawbuck of Palmer; grandson Joseph Schlanger; granddaughter Jeanette Camba and grandson-in-law Ruben Camba; great-grandchildren Kara Schlanger, Allison Schlanger, Breanna Schlanger; great-grandsons Daniel Camba, Rudy Camba; and her puppies and birds Charger, Nitro, Skylar, Spirit and Jackson.
