No compassion from Palin [To Gov. Sarah Palin, GOP VP nomineee] Like you, I am a 44-year-old woman, mother and wife. I am Catholic and a public health professional. Like you, I juggle family and career. Like you, I am an outspoken leader among my peers and colleagues. I was horrified by your speech at the RNC. I found your words offensive and hypocritical. Your sarcasms overshadowed your professionalism. You came across as inexperienced and sophomoric. If you’re seeking the approval of women in every corner of America you will need to address a kaleidoscope of issues that are important in the day-to-day lives of people across the country. I don’t think you understand the challenges that individuals and families face day in, and day out. After hearing your speech, I realize that you are extremely out of touch with the dynamics of these everyday issues. What are your tangible strategies on improving the failing economy, lack of quality health care for so many Americans, environmental degradation in our cities across the country, increasingly profound health disparities, a failing educational system, and the list goes on and on. Shame on YOU Sarah Palin!!! You’re not living in the same America with the rest of us. I recommend you try community organizing. There you’ll gain not only real-world experience, but also compassion and skill to be an effective political leader who all American people can trust and respect. Jeanne McMahon Belleville, N.J.
