Troopergate good for the nation The legislative investigation into “Troopergate” needs to continue. And even with Sarah Palin’s new direction and the Republican party’s fervor to get the “R” flag to the top of the hill before the “D” one at all cost, the purpose and need of the investigation is the same with one twist, the nation now is watching. The stakes are high for John McCain. However, our legislators are not beholding in any way to John McCain. They are beholding in public service to the people of the State of Alaska. As a U.S. senator who espouses change and reform of the old ways of good-old boy politics, Senator McCain should welcome full disclosure and candor from all involved, including Palin. The McCain people must stop throwing up roadblocks and lame excuses because it demonstrates hypocrisy and disrespect for the people’s needs and desire to choose the best-qualified people based on evidence not emotion. In her VP acceptance speech, Palin described herself as a “pitbull.” And if she characterizes herself as a dog, she is our dog. And we need to make sure she is of proper pedigree and behavior before we allow her to venture into someone else’s yard. The investigation must go on, for us, and for the nation.
