Show support for Palin with letters to editor

Published on Thursday, September 18, 2008 9:35 PM AKDT

It’s interesting that in a state with 80-percent approval rating for Governor Palin that you only printed responses that are overwhelmingly liberal and negative toward Governor Palin.

If printed, this email is a challenge to all Republicans and those in favor of the McCain-Palin ticket that you email frontiersman.com and voice your approval for Governor Palin as VP.

The communications printed in the Sept. 12, 2008 issue of the Frontiersman do NOT reflect Alaska’s, nor the nation’s majority approval of Governor Palin!

" Sarah Palin is an embarrassment and disgrace to Alaska and to women all over America. Troopergate, the Bridge to Nowhere, the lies, parading her unwed pregnant daughter across the RNC stage - my God woman-have you no respect? Your child needs YOU to protect her, instead you USED her to show the world -we're just like any other flawed family -in an attempt to cozy up to voters? To even consider putting this woman whose knowledge, thought processes and public speaking capabilities could be outmatched by a fourth grader is just insanity. "

" You want to elect a ticket, containing a VP candidate that believes she has foreign policy experience because Alaska is next to Russia? If I were Alaskan I'd be downright embarrassed that this unqualified woman is running for the 2nd most important position in the country. "

Since when does JOHN MCCAIN call the shots on who Sarah Palin OUR GOVERNOR talks to, where she goes and who can see her? controlling our media?

Who gave him the authority to run our state? Dictate and delegate? I'm mad and sad!!!!

Don't even think that we as Alaskan's mean a thing to McCain, he just got a pretty, young, chatty running mate. We as Alaskan expected more from Palin. What a disappointment. "

Sarah is the only reason I am voting for the second time in my 52 years. I had given up on Washington....UNTIL...Sarah entered the picture. She is the future. We need more like her. Common sense views like her's will bring back what the Republican Party used to be.

My parents who are staunch Republicans were just in Alaska over the last couple of weeks and could not find ONE person that supported the McCain/ Palin ticket. They are voting Obama, so as mom says, they don't have another 4 years of Bush 'Doctrine'. Should I spell that out for ya since your governor doesn't know what that is either. "

    " Dear Editor,
I am thrilled to have Sarah Palin on the ticket with McCain. She is smart and has all the qualities I want to see in a Vice President as well as in a President. Alaskans, you were so fortunate to have had Palin. I am thankful the rest of the country gets to go the to polls and vote for a McCain-Palin Ticket come Nov. Thank you for reading and Go McCain-Palin 2008.
Would like to see more articles in support of the Republican ticket.

" Her approval rating has probablly gone up even higher. We don't count all the recent outside southerners that learned about Alaska, Wasilla and our newspapers. You have to look at the issues. Alaskans believe in gun rights and have good conservative values. Democrats believe in welfare and socialism. Your boy doesn't have much of a rating. He was a long shot by the donkey party to try something..anything. One minute he's fighting with Prune face Hillary and now they're best friends. We love Sarah and the USA will too. "

" A plea to Alaska voters from an Arizona voter:

PLEASE keep Palin in Alaska. We don't want her in Washington pulling the shenanigans she does. We don't want her high school friends running big, important government agencies. We don't want secret emails to avoid recording what is done in government. We don't want Todd Palin involved in running the country. We don't want more lies and half-truths we have put up with in the Bush Administration and the McCain campaign. We are sick and tired of officials claiming "executive privilege" and ignoring subpoenas. "

" Bluemoon - yes you are wrong. $2200 was our annual permanent fund dividend, which she has nothing to do with whatsoever, and the additional $1200 is the energy relief check also from oil revenues and although this may have been her idea it was the Alaskan legislature that had to vote and pass this bill along with appropriations for alternative energy (in special session, in an election year). The approval rating is from when she was running for governor, I believe. If you took a current poll I do not believe it would be nearly that high. "

" Am I wrong in thinking that the only reason Palin had a 80% approval rating is because she 'paid' for that approval by sending out $3000 checks? I'd approve of that as well. "

" I am a non-partisan. I voted for Sarah and was one of the persons polled in the 80%. I will probably not be voting for Sarah and McCain because of her refusal to do as she promised. She promised us she would be open, transparent and honest. She has not been true to her words. Thus, she has lost not only my support, but the support of a more than a few of my family and friends. The "liberal" bogeyman is just a deflection for many in a party that just doesn't seem to get it. "

" Isn't the Frontiersman, owned by Republicans, showing enogh bias for you Irene?

Most every letter or editorial I have seen here has is a tip of the hat in her favor.

And that 80% approval rating is OLD NEWS!

A poll I saw just yesterday in an Alaskan newspaper shows that 94% of the people voting don't think she is qualified to be VP, with 1% undecided.

But, I have to say it will be interesting to see how many of you locals do think she is qualified. "

Audreen wrote on Sep 19, 2008 9:44 AM:

" I would love to see a new poll taken on Sarah's "approval rating" now. I'm fairly certain it is no longer 80%. I personally feel Governor Palin is bringing great embarrassment not only to Alaska but to herself. Does she think she is above the government when she, her husband and staff ignore subpoenas? She swore to uphold the Alaska State Constitution, what happened? The only politics going here are her politics. When the McCain/Palin ticket does not win, I am certain she will have tainted her political career forever. "

" Irene, I know you are trying hard to pull for your girl. But the facts do not lie no matter how much you want them to. Palin is and was the socialist and liberal before she xo-opted her new conservative friends and support. It is the conservatives not the liberals who are disappointed in her. I do not believe Lyda Green is a liberal. May be Eddie Burke can round up some Palin lovers for you. "
