CRIMINAL MISCHIEF Sept. 30, 1:30 a.m., Mile 2 Fairview Lp.: A black 1999 Mazda four-door was found with its windshield and rear window and passenger windows busted out and its hood and roof damaged. No suspects were located. MVC Sept. 30, 12:45 a.m., Knik-Goose Bay Rd. and Settlers Bay Dr.: A female driver in a 1991 GMC Sierra left the road and hit a buried telephone cable box then fled. Sept. 29, 2 p.m., Parks Hwy. and McCallister Dr.: Amber Helmann, 27, Wasilla, northbound in 2001 Plymouth Neon, was rear-ended by a 1998 Nissan Maxima driven by Franklin Carpenter, 22, of Palmer. Carpenter cited for not exercising due care. Sept. 29, 2:50 p.m. Bogard Rd. and Greenforest Dr.: Linda Smith, 58, Palmer, eastbound in her 1987 Chevy S-10 pickup when a 17-year-old Wasilla girl turned in front her driving a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup. Both drivers were taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Damage for Smith: $5,000. Damage for the teen: $2,500. The girl was cited for not yielding. Sept. 29, 3:43 p.m., Bogard Rd. and Barrys Resort Dr.: Gerald Mason, 62, Wasilla, westbound in a 1997 Chevrolet pickup pulling a trailer, was rear-ended by a 2000 Dodge Neon driven by Amanda Hawkins, 18, Wasilla. No injuries. Hawkins cited for not exercising due care. Mason cited for not having proof of insurance and not wearing his seatbelt. WARRANT ARREST Sept. 29, 11:41 p.m., Mile 35 Glenn Hwy.: John Stepp was stopped for speeding and found to have a warrant for failure to appear in court on DWLS charge. New charge: DWLS. Bail, $1,000. Sept. 29, 7:30 p.m.: Linda Smith, 58, Wasilla, arrested at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center on warrant for failure to appear in court on improper use of registration charge. Bail, $200. BURGLARY Sept. 27, 2:46 p.m., Suburban Dr.: Forced entry was made through a window sometime after Sept. 6. Power tools, DVDs and a green and white Kawasaki KX250 motorcycle were taken. DEATH INVESTIGATION Sept. 30, 2:08 p.m.,: Jack Hushower, 60, Palmer, was found to have died of natural causes. Sept. 29, 10:23 a.m., Sassy Ave.: Rebecca Soulak, 42, Wasilla, was found to have died of natural causes. VIOLATING CONDITIONS OF RELEASE Sept. 29, 12:05 a.m., Rockside Dr.: Jon Howard, 47, is alleged to have consumed alcohol in violation of his conditions of release from incarceration on a disorderly conduct charge. New charge: violating conditions of release. Bail, $1,500. DUI Sept. 28, 9:46 p.m., Mile 5.5 Old Glenn Hwy.: Robert James Sweeney, 42, Palmer, was stopped for having an inoperable headlight. Charge: DUI. Bail, $1,000. VEHICLE THEFT Sept. 29, 10:57 a.m., Kobuk Ln.: A homemade boat with a Suzuki Spirit Marine inboard jet motor on a homemade trailer was reported stolen from a driveway sometime that morning or the previous evening.
WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT BURGLARY, THEFT, ASSAULT Sept. 30, 8 a.m.: Douglas Edwards, 36, Wasilla, allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend, leaving her with minor injuries. Police were unable to find Edwards. Charges sent to the District Attorney against Edwards: theft, burglary, assault. ASSAULT Sept. 30, 2:33 p.m.: A man reported Cody Mitchell of Big Lake assaulted him at Mr. Lube. Assault charge sent to the District Attorney against Mitchell. |
