" Look at Alaska law, you will find that you have the right to discipline you children any way you want as long as you do not cause permanent disfigurement. Your comment is based on laws found in other states. "

" Everyone can sit and say that these kids needmore disipline, but the only problem with that is if you try to disipline your child then you get charged with child abuse. My 15 year old came home from school and told me what I could do and couldn't. She learned this in one of her classes at school. If the sports in the schools didn't cost so much then maybe there would be more participation. If there were more things in this community that we could send our TEENS to we would. "

" It really upsets me that just because of all these bad apples (of which the valley seems to have PLENTY), my demographic gets a bad name. I'm almost 19, and have never committed a crime, I haven't even been pulled over. It's absolutely absurd. We can't even keep street signs for more then 3 weeks before they are stolen again. I hope whoever does things like that are proud of themselves. And the kids that pass you in a residential neighborhood doing twice the speed limit? We severly need more cops. "

" I think the reason young punks get busted a lot is they don't have the experience. You have to learn how to avoid cops, and drive more mellow. After you get busted a few times and do a little time, you don't feel so invincible. Also, When you live with your parents, you party in your car a lot more. "

" I wonder what the percentage of violators (youth only under 20) were involved in sports? High school sports develops worth, a sense of belonging to something, and community pride. Parents need to try and get their kids into any form of organized sports, and then work equally hard at keeping then eligible throughout the year. We as a community needs to take this very seriously, and if we do not the problems will of course spiral out of control. Sports has always been a contributing factor in character building and keeping youth safe. "

" I think that the only person that has a true an realistic point of view here is Diana. Shouldnt we be concerned that our youth have taken a turn and not for the good. i am sure that you all have heard the term the youth of today our leadership of tomorrow. If we want our tomorrow to be better than today than we have invest our time in our youth NOW. I think that the shrug it off attitude is exactly what the parents to these youths have said and done. " Kids aren't doing anything today that kids didn't do 35 years ago. Then only difference is that we are a POLICE STATE now. Law enforcement used to use judgment and discretion when enforcing the law. Now they take a ZERO TOLERANCE approach to everything - alll in the interest of revenue generation. The POLICE here in the Valley are PREDATORY - they take the approach that the citizen is the ENEMY. Public Safety - what a joke! With all of the laws on the books they have the latitude to pull anyone over. "

" Did you notice that most of these people, where under the age of 20. What the H*ll is going on with our kids. Runaways, theft, drinking, domestic voilence and drugs. What is really going on? These are our children, yours and mine. We have to fix this, NOW!!!! "
