I would also like to thank all the people who voted for me in this election. I am honored and humbled to be chosen to represent the residents of Wasilla (on city council), and I hope to excel beyond your expectations.
Some of my goals are to cooperate and work with the Mat-Su Borough to get a commuter rail into service. Although our fuel prices have come down a bit, I believe it is only a matter of time before they go back up again.

I want to see the city treat all people fairly. We need development, but it needs to be accomplished in such a way that we do not run over the people who already live and do business here. These are things I can not accomplish alone. Not only does the rest of the city council need to be in agreement, but our mayor will need to have these ideas for the city as well.
I would also like to take a moment to speak my mind regarding one of our mayoral candidates. Verne Rupright and his family have lived in Wasilla for more than 25 years. He has proven himself to be an honest and reputable resident of Wasilla. Through his personal and business life, Mr. Rupright has shown the common sense, financial responsibility and personal stability required to lead our great city into the future.
He has shown his stability by staying here, through the boom and the bust, raising his family and participating in our community. He has shown his financial responsibility by working hard as a captain in the military, later as a prison guard and then putting himself through law school while raising a family and opening his own business in downtown Wasilla.
We know where he is from, who he is and where he is going. In other words, in five, 10, 15 years from now, Mr. Rupright will still be here among us. This lends him to being an honest and fair mayor as he will still be here to face the rest of us after his term or terms are over. We are at a pivotal moment in time for our fair city. We need a mayor who will tell it like it is with no fancy lip service to skirt the issues.
Please, if you really want a mayor whose interests lie in what is best for Wasilla, and if you really want honest to goodness change for the better, then join me in voting for Rupright on Tuesday.

Since when do elected officials loose their right to voice an opinion?
In the presidential race other politicians have come out and endorsed the guys running for president. I guess that means it is okay for the "famous" politicians to endorse a presidential candidate but on the City level our officials have to hide from the public who they support? I would rather know who they support instead of them hiding it. Too bad we don't know where the rest of the officials stand. "

We need thoughtful and sustainable development that first takes into account the needs of the people who are already here, and who intend to stay around for the long haul.
Wasilla has a unique charm and we should nurture that friendly uniqueness rather than turning it into a hard-edged and ultimately bleak "Everytown, U.S.A." "
