Emmanuel Lampl

Wasilla resident Emmanuel George Lampl, 67, died Oct. 24, 2008, in Anchorage, surrounded by family, from complications of cardio-pulmonary surgery.

Visitation will be at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1015 S. Check Street in Wasilla, on Oct. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. Rosary will be recited by the Legion of Mary at 6:30 pm Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 7 p.m. with Fr. Stan Allie as celebrant. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday with family members and close friends as pallbearers.

Lampl was born Jan.y 25, 1941, in Dickinson, N.D., to John and Theresa Lampl. He grew up on the Lampl farm and graduated from Regent High School. He married Norma Anderson in 1981 and inherited five children, Craig, Dan, Cathy, Cheryl and Elise. He was a produce manager for Safeway, D&A Supermarkets, Shoprite and Steve’s Food Boy. He retired from Alaska Commercial Company after 18-1/2 years in 2006. He came to Alaska in 1969, and had lived in Anchorage, Bethel, Nome, Cordova and Wasilla.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, landscaping, community service, and visiting nursing homes and shut-ins.

His family said: “There is nothing he would not do for you and most times you did not even have to ask. He was the most kind and gentle man; the best dad we could ever have hoped for, we drew strength from him and we will see him again one day.”

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Lampl; parents, John and Theresa Lampl; and son, Craig A. Poirot. Survivors are his son, Dan Poirot of Big Lake; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and George Obrien of Wasilla, Elsie and Dave Block of Palmer, and Cheryl Buchanan of Big Lake; brother and sister-in-law, John J. and Venita Lampl of Dickinson, N.D.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
