The new ‘USSA’

I support neither McCain nor Obama because I find their proposals equally subserviant to their corporate handlers.

Both have voted for a financial bailout plan, which puts us all on the hook for almost a trillion dollars, which we have to borrow to save unworthy corporations that will have put them in power. The Bush administration has turned to socialism as well to save these same “friends” from their lack of good management at the people’s expense instead of standing up for free and fair markets.

A free market should have been allowed to weed out poorly managed outfits and substitute stronger, smarter corporations. But no! President Bush owes too much and must save these corporate dictators at our expense. Both Democrat and Republican congressmen have thrown in the towel on free and fair markets too, and have destroyed confidence in free markets around the world for which we have been fighting (allegedly).

When these $700 billion are eaten-up, we shall be forced to go into debt for another couple trillion, and so on, until our dollars lose whatever value some still believe they hold. No money is spent faster and more unwisely than that which has not been earned. Welcome to the United Socialist States of America!

Does this two-party system serve the people?

" It is going on 11 pm here in Florida and this will be my last post. It has been nice visiting with you folks up there. I wish you well.

We are ALL Americans and can agree to disagree.

The Repubs give more "welfare" to the rich...while the Dems give more to the lower classes. Two sides of the same coin. Different beneficiaries....

Politicians pander to whoever will keep them in power.

Washington D.C. is NOT for the faint of heart! "

" I would just like to congratulate Gov. Palin on a well run campaign, You sure can tell the liberals are afraid of her( since they are still attacking her after the campaign is over) She has electrified the conservative base with women as well as men. I look forward to seeing her in the future . I hope she can gain the experience needed to come back to the national political scene in the near future. God bless you and your family Shawn mckinzie lawton OK "

" amusing coming from the most socialist state in the union - i don't believe any of you sent back your alaskan dividend check when it was issued - money coming from the socialization of Alaska. Oh, and please, PUT YOUR HANDS BACK IN YOUR POCKETS - given the mebarrassment of what you do with earmarks and how greedy your grubby hands are at grabbing them, i dont think many more will be on their way there. Also, stop sucking on the EIC socialism youi get for having more kids than you can afford. "

" Perhaps it is time for Alaska to leave the Union and become our own country. Half the idiots in the lower 48 think we are a foreign country anyway, and the rest treat us like one. Think of it. We could develop our oil and bully the USSA. Obama would send us foreign aid. We could be his first test. All we need is a bully to take him on. Ted Stevens or Don Young might be available. And we could finally get that capital moved to Willow. "

" Regarding socialism...When McCain says he wants the governement to buy up mortgages from people who are struggling and re-issue them more affordable ones, is this not also "Socialism?" Is this also not redistributing the wealth? McHypocrisy/Twinkie Winky...some of us see thru your BS rhetoric. "

" Alaska signed an agreement with the United States prior to the statehood vote called the Statehood Compact. It granted Alaska 103,000,000 acres of land and a 90/10 split on revenue earned through resource development on federal lands. The federal government has broken the Compact now by instituting instead a 50/50 split without Alaska"s approval.Fifty years after statehood much of 103,000,000 acres has not been conveyed to Alaska. It must also be noted that a lot of the funds sent to Alaska are spent on defense to defend the lower 48 from attack and also for Alaska Native health care promised them by fedgov. " The drift to socialism is correct, under Ted Stevens and Sarah Palin that is. Why don't you ask them to give the lower 48 states back the monetary difference between, the seven times the amount that Alaskans receive in money from the federal government over the amount of federal taxes that Alaskans pay into the federal government. Elimination of "socialism" begins at home in Alaska doesn't it? So shouldn't Alaska quit accepting welfare? "

" Mr.Russell is correct in pointing out our drift to socialism.Invariably we are given candidates that are onerous.2008 is no exception.Obama is the very worst candidate in our history not because of his race but by his radical beleifs.Mc Cain in somewhat better but not much.Sarah Palin is the only reason I would vote for him.It remains to be seen if the neocons will pervert her.Third parties are hampered by a lack of media coverage and laws that make it hard to get on the ballot. We need a strong third and perhaps forth party to balance the corporate conrtoled playing feild.
