i take time off to go to vegas, , and go boating jet-skiing, snowmobiling etc.
i have many toys, and make time to use them.
so retirement may not be for me, as it may be for some.
good luck in your endeavors, and have a marvelous thanksgiving, and remember what this holiday is truly about! "

Actually, we are in our early 40's and thus far, it doesn't look like retirement is going to kill us. Unless we get run over on our early morning runs and bike rides.
Enjoy Thanksgiving (everyone)! "

but, i applaud you for becoming recession proof, you are one huge step above most of the U.S. most people have poor planning, leave their investments completely up to investment brokers, and assume they're on their side.
as for retirement, i don't have time for that, and like all my fathers friends, when they retired, shortly thereafter they died, and i'm not looking forward to that, so, i'll keep busy. "

Actually, we made such wise investments my spouse and I were able to retire early and very comfortably. Fortunately, we made ourselves recession-proof; life is good.
And we've done all this, JP, without being predatory.

our economy is wrecked, the only fix will be a drastic measure, like tarriffs, huge legislation on importing and exporting, and opening up our natural resources.
this death spiral we're in right now can only get worse if our government does not stand up to the big corporations, decline their bailout begging, tell them to act like a business, and diversify , rectify, in order to survive.

With few glitches, the Clinton years overall were economic "glory years" (where were you, JP?), which Bush has never come close to measuring up to. He has created a national disaster instead, from which we will recover--but painfully.

It's an Ethics consideration, but if she can do it on her personal time, she should charge them for her time.
If they won't pay her, then she should be able to get dedicated TV time to talk about anything she wants to "sell Alaska" as Governor. I.e., dedicated time to pitch drilling for oil in the ANWR Coastal Region. "

So, Palin on one of her smartest day could have said NO, McCain gave her a gift and she ripped it up and did it HER WAY. Palin just hasn't learned she's not ready for the big league "

What a beautiful state filled with beautiful people you have, but Sarah Palin? She seems nice enough but a heartbeat away from the most powerful political position in the world? This time, you had too many flubs to overlook. Please don't let your desires cloud your judgement. That's all. Good luck. "
