Nancy Jane Reese

Nancy Jane Reese, 72, of Glacier View, died Nov.6, 2008 in Wasilla after a battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 5, 1936 in Cloquet, Minn. Nancy was a full-time homemaker who came to Alaska in July of 1964.

Her family wrote that she enjoyed working with leather, horses, knitting and cross-stitch.


“Nany love to cook and was known throughout the area for her sourdough chocolate cake. Although she was talented in the kitchen, she also had a mechanical side to her as she completely wired the family homestead home. Her green thumb talents were evident throughout the homestead in the form of lush vegetables and flowers. Her daughter recalls one of her fondness memories was of her mother singing to her and her brother some of the old-time classic tunes. She possessed an angelic style of singing.”

No serices are planned. She will be cremated and buried at the family homestead in Glacier View.

Nancy Reese is survived by her husband, Eldon of Glacier View; daugher Cheryl of Crooked River, Ore., and son David of Redmond, Ore.; brother Bruce Smith of Tualatin, Ore.; and several half-brothers and sisters throughout the Lower 48.
