WASILLA POLICE DEPARTMENT VANDALISM Nov. 7, 9:20 a.m.: Police discovered all three overhead florescent lights in the men’s room at Wonderland park had been broken. Nov. 9, 9:39 p.m.: An 18-year-old Wasilla boy reported someone had broken out the back window of his vehicle. Charges will be sent to the district attorney on Christopher Wong, 19, for breaking the window with a bat. MVC Nov. 7, 1:22 p.m. post office parking lot: A 17-year-old Wasilla boy was riding his bicycle through the lot when he hit a vehicle stopping to exit the lot driven by Drew Hilterbrand, 35, Soldotna. The teen was hospitalized for evaluation. The vehicle had minor damage. Nov. 7, 5:15 p.m., Seward-Meridian Parkway: Jennifer Brett, 29, Wasilla, left the Wal-Mart parking lot making a left turn and hitting a black Chevrolet driven by Ivan Vasquez, 35, Wasilla. Damage to Brett’s vehicle: $2,500. Damage to the Chevy: $3,000. Nov. 13, 12:52 a.m., Carrs parking lot: Jennifer Woods, 31, Wasilla, was trying to pull into a parking spot when she hit the front of a sanding truck driven by Joseph Filley, 30, Palmer, who was backing up the parking row. Nov. 10, 3:50 p.m., Seward-Meridian Pkwy. and Fireweed Ln.: Elizabeth Whaley, 42, southbound when a truck driven by Zach Tanner, 20, Wasilla, came off an off ramp through a green light and hit Whaley, who had a red light. Tanner’s vehicle spun into a parking lot and hit a parked vehicle owned by Lynette Ostrom. Damage to all vehicles: $7,000. Nov. 13, 2:28 a.m., Knik St.: Police on patrol noticed a snowmachine on its side in the middle of the road. It came from a fenced area of Valley Car Rental that had been broken into. Two other snow machines and an ATV had been stolen. Nov. 10, 4:10 p.m., Carrs: A 41-year-old Wasilla woman reported her purse containing credit cards, a check book and $40 cash was stolen from her shopping cart. FOUND PROPERTY Nov. 12, 2:47 p.m., Kalli Cir.: An Anchorage woman called to report that her vehicle had gone missing, she’d placed an ad on Craig’s List, and was told the vehicle was in an apartment building parking lot. She got her car back undamaged. WARRANTS Nov. 10, 6:40 p.m., Chili’s: Sam Tucker, 25, ran from police. With help from troopers, he was arrested on two warrants for failure to appear in court. Nov. 11, 6:15 p.m., Palmer-Wasilla Hwy. and Hyer Rd.: Stephen Sundby, 52, Wasilla, eastbound in a 2003 Dodge pickup when he was rear-ended by a 2000 Honda Civic driven by a 16-year-old Wasilla girl. Girl taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Damage to the Dodge: minor. Damage to the Honda: over $5,000. Teen cited for not exercising due care. Nov. 11, 6 p.m., Pittman Rd. and Parks Hwy.: Den Delaney, 18, Wasilla, southbound driving a 1994 GMC pickup when he slid into the intersection and hit a 2006 BMW driven by Michael Styers, 49, Big Lake. Damage to the GMC: $2,000. Damage to the BMW: $10,000. No injuries. Delaney cited for speeding. Nov. 11, 5:12 p.m., Parks Hwy., Hyer Rd. off ramp: Max McLinn, 46, unable to stop driving a 1993 Ford Explorer, hit a 2007 Toyota SUV driven by Brenda Shelden, 41, Palmer. Damage to the Toyota: $4.000. Damage to the Ford: $2,000. No injuries. McLinn cited for speeding. Nov. 11, 9:55 p.m., Trunk Rd. near Woodworth Lp.: An unoccupied tan 1991 Ford Explorer parked in the road behind a curve was hit by a southbound white 2005 Ford Expedition driven by James Bunch, 30, Wasilla, who then hit a northbound red 2003 Audi driven by Anthony Rodriguez, 24, Palmer. No injuries. The Explorer’s driver, Benjamin Shubert, 20, Anchorage, showed up as troopers investigated. He was summonsed for NVOL and cited for parking in the road. Nov. 13, 3:24 p.m., Trunk Rd. near Palmer-Wasilla Hwy.: Leila Watford, 47, Palmer, northbound in a red 1996 Kia Sportage when she lost control and rolled. Watford was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. The Kia was totaled. NVOL Nov. 9, 6:02 a.m., Snohomish Ave.: Two Anchorage teenagers stopped in a red Pontiac 4-door for a traffic violation. Aumavae, 21, Palmer, arrested on warrant for failure to appear at arraignment on DWLS charge. $400 bail. THEFT Nov. 9, 5 p.m., Trunk Rd: Troopers went to the Park and Ride parking lot where windows had been smashed out of two cars and a small amount of change had been stolen. A third car had $1,500 damage done to its upholstery. Nov. 11, 1:30 p.m., E. Birch Dr.: Someone entered a home through a window sometime between Nov. 2 and Nov. 9, and stole $900 worth of stuff. Nov. 13, 6 p.m., Trunk Rd.: A 44-year-old Palmer man reported the front license plate of his white Ford Ranger was stolen when it was parked at the Park and Ride lot. ASSAULT Nov. 11, 7:16 p.m., James Noble, 18, arrested at a disturbance call on Rainbow Dr. for allegedly assaulting a family member and breaking a picture frame. Charges: Assault, criminal mischief. Nov. 13, 8:44 p.m., Armstrong Rd.: Stephen Gerbin, 42, Houston, arrested for allegedly assaulting a family member. Charge: Assault IV. No bail set. DEATH INVESTIGATION Nov. 12, 12:05 a.m., W. Easy St.: Robert Michael Smith, 56, Wasilla, died of natural causes. |
