MVC

Nov. 10, Palmer High School parking lot: A Dodge Durango backed into a Chevrolet Aveo when a small child put the vehicle into gear. Damage to both vehicles: $1,500.

Nov. 12, Outer Springer Lp.: Lois Liebing, 42, Palmer, hit a yearling moose driving her 2003 Volkswagen four-door.

Nov. 12, Denali St. and Dogwood Ave.: Joshua Wolfe, 27, Anchorage, and David Pipkin, 58, Palmer, were in a wreck. Combined damage: $3,000. No injuries. Wolfe cited for not yielding.

DWLSCR

Nov. 10: Jay Burkhart, 51, Palmer, summonsed at a traffic stop for DWLS.

Nov. 13: Nina Mae Wilson, 45, Palmer arrested for DWLR. Bail: $500.

Nov. 13, Glenn Hwy. near Parks Hwy.: Scott Earl Payne, 18, Eagle River, stopped after he made a sudden stop on the highway, causing the truck behind him to drive onto the shoulder. Summons: DWLS.  

RUNAWAYS

Nov. 10: A 14-year-old girl gone from home for two days was located and returned to her mother.

Nov. 11: A 57-year-old man reported his 15-year-old son did not return home from school.

VIOLATING RELEASE CONDITIONS

Nov. 11: Christine George, 33, Palmer, arrested after she was intoxicated and causing a disturbance. Charge: Violating release conditions. Bail: $500.

THEFT

Nov. 11: A 42-year-old Palmer man reported his bicycle stolen from his home.

Nov. 13: Ryan S. Burkhart, 25, charged with forgery, fraud and theft. Bail: $15,000.

WARRANTS

Nov. 11: Derek F. Burkett, 18, Palmer, arrested on $250 warrant for failure to appear at arraignment on NVOL charge.

Nov. 11, Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility parking lot: Cory J. Sandiford, 29, Palmer, arrested for failure to appear in court on DWLS charge. Bail: $500.

Nov. 13: Shannon Lee Bodo, 37, Palmer, arrested on warrant for failure to appear at arraignment on DWLS charge and the new charge of providing false information. Bail: $1,500.

Nov. 13: Susan E. Henry, 39, Palmer, arrested at home on two warrants for failure to appear in court on charges of DWLS and making a false report. Bail: $1,500.

Nov. 15: Nicholaus Gerald Brunzel, 24, Wasilla, arrested on two no bail warrants – one for failure to appear in court on DWLS charge, the other for failure to report to jail on DUI charge.

DRUG MISCONDUCT

Nov. 11, Headquarters: Dessiree E. Tait, 23, Anchorage, arrested for fourth-degree drug misconduct during a disturbance in the police department’s parking lot. Bail: $2.000.

Nov. 14, Palmer High School: Police arrested a juvenile for marijuana possession.

DUI

Nov. 12: Randy Phillip Hoeldt, 52, Palmer, arrested for DUI and DWLR. Bail: $5,000.

Nov. 13: Brandon W. Niles, 30, Sutton, found passed out in a running vehicle in the lot behind Palmer Bar. Charge: DUI. Bail: $2,500.

Nov. 14: Timothy C. Scheuner, 42, Palmer, stopped on a citizen’s complaint of an impaired driver. Charge: DUI. Bail: $1,000.

UNDERAGE DRINKING

Nov. 16: Evan James Lovett, 18, found in his driveway after a complaint of reckless driving. Summons: Underage drinking, minor driving after drinking. Citations: Running a stop sign, open container.

Nov. 18: Amanda Marie Portney, 20, Palmer, and Gina Lynn Best, 20, Palmer, summonsed for underage drinking after a report of a loud party.

FISHING VIOLATION

Nov. 14, Big Lake: Nickolas Strode, 27, Big Lake, John Strode, 24, Big Lake and Seth Rogers, 18, Willow, summonsed for violations after a report of unattended ice fishing gear on the lake. The gear had taken four burbot – double the bag limit.

UNDERGE DRINKING

Nov. 17, 3:57 a.m., Wasilla-Fishhook Rd.: Two teenage girls were spotted walking in the road. Summonses: Underage drinking.

MVC

Nov. 17, 9:04 a.m., Pittman Rd. and Beverly Lakes Rd.: Cynthia King, 41, Wasilla, was northbound in her 1996 Chevrolet Suburban when Danielle Carter, 20, Wasilla, westbound in a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer slid through a stop sign. Damage to the Blazer: $3,500. Damage to the Suburban: $1,500. No injuries. Carter ticketed for speeding.

Nov. 17, 10:30 a.m., Seward Meridian Pkwy. and Spruce Dr.: Bryan Farris, 19, Eagle River, northbound driving a 1996 Ford Aspire when he lost control and left the road. Damage: $700. Farris was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Nov. 18, 6:36 a.m., Mile 54.6 Glenn Hwy.: Darrell Wassman, 55, Yelm, Wash., hit a moose while driving a 2001 Kenworth semi-tractor. Wassman was unhurt. The moose was donated to a local charity. The Kenworth sustained $20,000 damage.

Nov. 17, 9:14 a.m., Mile 113 Parks Hwy.: Blaine Dewalt, 24, Fairbanks, lost control of his 2002 Dodge Dakota and left the road. The pickup rolled several times, coming to rest on its left side against a tree. A passenger was hospitalized with minor injuries. No citations were issued.

Nov. 17, 1:19 p.m., Mile 68 Parks Hwy.: Gayle Schumacher, 64, Talkeetna, lost traction driving her black 1995 Ford Explorer and hit a blue 1998 Dodge Neon driven by Willa Harter, 81, Willow. No injuries. Schumacher cited.

Nov. 18, 11:53 p.m., Edlund Rd.: Shannon Miller, 25, Wasilla, lost control of her 1999 Chevrolet van, drove off the shoulder and rolled into Cottonwood Creek. Miller was hospitalized. Damage to the van: $8,000.

Nov. 19, 7:13 a.m., Hawk Ln. and Kenlar Rd.: A 17-year-old Big Lake boy driving a 1990 Dodge pickup failed to stop at an intersection and sideswiped a blue 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Suzanne Buzby, 45, of Wasilla. The teen was ticketed. Damage to both vehicles: $2,000. No injuries.

Nov. 18, 5:43 p.m., Mile 76 Parks Hwy.: Nathan Wilson, 28, Talkeetna, southbound driving his 2006 Ford F-350 when he hit a moose. Wilson was unhurt. The moose as donated to charity. The pickup had $6,000 damage.

THEFT

Nov. 17, 10 a.m., Fireweed Rd. and Meadow Valley Dr.: The back doors on two buildings were pried open. A snow blower and $1,500 worth of antiques stolen. Damage to each door: $150.

Nov. 17, 2:26 p.m., Wasilla: Patricia E. Schatz, 25, Wasilla, arrested for allegedly knowingly issuing $1,500 worth of bad checks at Three Bears over more than two weeks. Bail: $2,000.

Nov. 18, 4:18 p.m., Rattan Dr.: Someone broke into a home and stole electronics.

Nov. 18, 8:40 p.m., Conner Ct.: Someone broke out a first story window and stole an ATV and firearms. Damage: $200.

Nov. 19, 3 p.m., Lower Rd.: Someone walked in the front door of a home sometime in the previous nine days and walked out with $700 worth of goods. 

Nov. 19, 4:30 p.m., Edsulu St.: Someone broke into a home and made off with digital equipment, $2,900 cash and several prescription medications for a total loss of $3,142. Damage to the door: $150.

ASSAULT

Nov. 17, 5:03 p.m., Citation Cir.: Natalia Gail, 58, Palmer, arrested for allegedly assaulting a family member. Charge: Assault IV. No bail set.

WARRANTS

Nov. 18, 2:08 a.m., Palmer: Greggory D. Larson, 18, Palmer, arrested at a traffic stop for failure to appear in court on underage drinking charge. Bail: $250.

Nov. 17, 3:30 p.m., Meadow Lakes: Phillip L. Cummings, 49, Meadow Lakes, arrested at home on warrant for failure to report to prison on DUI and DWLS conviction. No bail.

Nov. 18, 3:08 p.m., Mile 61 Parks Hwy.: Andrew Marchione, 22, Wasilla, arrested at a traffic stop on $500 Anchorage warrant with the original charge of driving without insurance.

Nov. 19, 9:30 p.m., Edsulu Dr.: David Beaty Jr., 29, Big Lake, arrested at home on $500 warrant for failure to appear at arraignment on driving without insurance charge.

Nov. 20, 12:54 a.m., Parks Hwy. near Creekside Plaza: Two men arrested at a traffic stop. Wayne L. Olszak, 31, Wasilla on $500 warrant for driving without insurance. Glen E. Lukas II, 22, on $500 warrant for drug misconduct.

Nov. 17, 5 p.m., Glenn Hwy. near Palmer-Fishhook Rd.: Roger Totemoff, 47, Anchorage, arrested at a traffic stop on a no-bail warrant for three domestic violence assault counts.

Nov. 18, 2:41 p.m., Mile 70 Parks Hwy.: Michael Holder, 27, Willow, stopped for a traffic violation. Summons: NVOL.

ELUDING ARREST

Nov. 19, 12:33 a.m., Seward Meridian Pkwy. and E. Birchwood Dr.: Lawrence W. Berzanske, 46, had allegedly chased another vehicle and drove recklessly. After a short pursuit he was stopped, after which he resisted arrest but was taken into custody with the help of a police dog. Charges: Reckless driving, resisting arrest, eluding arrest. Bail: $2,500.

DUI

Nov. 17, 5:49 p.m., Wasilla: Anthony E. Nolin, 49, Palmer, stopped for a moving violation. Charge: DUI. bail: $500.

 

DWLR

Nov. 20, 2:41 a.m., Parks Hwy. and Alpine St.; Cameron F. Olson, 24, of Houston, stopped for an equipment violation. Summons: DWLR.

DRUG MISCONDUCT

Nov. 19, 11;45 p.m., Edlund Rd. and Lavender Dr.: Steven M. Humphreys, 29, and Adam K. Hanohano, 35, were summonsed at a traffic stop for misconduct involving a controlled substance VI.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

Nov. 17, 11:09 a.m., Via Tranquilla Dr.: Ellen Valley, 63, Wasilla, found to have died of a chronic illness.

THEFT

Nov. 18, 9:03 a.m., Snohomish Ave.: A 51-year-old Wasilla man reported a pellet pistol stolen from his unlocked vehicle sometime during the night. Loss: $50.

Nov. 20, 6:18 p.m., Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot: A 35-year-old Palmer woman reported her unlocked vehicle had been stolen from the lot. The vehicle was found abandoned behind Fred Meyer with a $200 iPod missing from inside.

Nov. 20, 7:35 p.m.: A 63-year-old Wasilla man reported he believed his granddaughter had stolen one of his checks, forged it, and tried to cash it at a bank.

Nov. 19, 2:26 p.m., Carrs: A 52-year-old Wasilla woman reported she was shopping when a man in his 20s snatched her purse from her cart and ran. Store patrons stopped the man and got the purse back, but he pulled out of his shirt and got away. He was last seen running toward Yenlo St.

Nov. 17, 3:08 p.m. Vincent Cir.: A 47-year-old Wasilla woman reported someone stole numerous tools from her storage shed.

Nov. 15, 4:24 a.m., Mug-Shot Saloon: A 26-year-old Wasilla woman, reported her purse containing $600, a digital camera and several bank cards stolen from the saloon.

Nov. 15, 5:08 p.m., Carrs: A 40-year-old Wasilla woman reported her purse stolen from her unlocked car while she was in the store.

Nov. 16, 4:33 p.m., Fred Meyer: Two juvenile girls were stopped for shoplifting. Theft charges are being sent to juvenile probation.

MVC

Nov. 18, 8:01 p.m., Parks Hwy. and Main St.: Russell Rutherford allegedly fled the scene of an accident and was later found at Mile 49.5. Charges: Leaving the scene of an accident, no proof of insurance.

Nov. 20, 4:56 p.m., Parks Hwy. and Yenlo St.: Laura Frank, 24, Anchorage failed to noticed Laurie Niles, 47, had stopped in traffic and rear-ended her.

Nov. 20, 5:07 p.m., Palmer-Wasilla Hwy. and Knik-Goose Bay Rd..: Anthony Alivera, 45, Wasilla, failed to stop and rear-ended Lisa Apangalook, 19, Wasilla.

Nov. 21, 5:22 a.m., Old Matanuska Rd.: Christine Smith, 21, Wasilla, apparently lost control of her vehicle, hitting a tree. Smith and passenger Irene Pungalik, 21, Wasilla, were taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.

Nov. 14, 1:23 p.m., Crestwood Ave. and Fanciful Pl.: A 17-yearold Wasilla boy was making a right turn and slid into a vehicle operated by Viktoriya Senyak, 35, Wasilla.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Nov. 20, 10:21 a.m., Althea St.: A 36-year-old Wasilla woman reported that sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. someone broke a window frame on a travel trailer in her driveway.

WARRANT

Nov. 10, 11;22 p.m.: Scott Bostwick, 36, Wasilla, arrested at a traffic stop on failure to report to jail on DWLR conviction. He had three days left to serve. New charge: DWLR.

WATER DAMAGE

Nov. 19, 9:25 p.m.: Police went to the Alaska Club for a report that water was flooding the building. Someone had apparently set off one of the sprinkler heads in the men’s locker room.

DUI

Nov. 20, 1:25 a.m.: Matthew Peterson, 20, Wasilla, arrested for DUI, DWLR, underage drinking and minor driving after drinking. Bail: $2,500. Passenger Leland Gutierrez, 19, Palmer, was summonsed for underage drinking

Nov. 17, 1:24 a.m., Parks Hwy. at Church Rd.: Lisa Huizenga, 44, Wasilla, found parked in the road. Charge: DUI. Bail: $500.

RUNAWAY

Nov. 17, 10:04 p.m.: A 42-year-old Wasilla woman reported her 15-year-old daughter ran away from home.

Nov. 14, 11:32 a.m.: Police were notified that a 16-year-old boy had run away from home.

DWLS

Nov. 14, 9:46 p.m.: Terenty Reutov, 25, stopped for having an inoperable headlight. Summons: DWLS.

Nov. 16, 7:58 a.m.: A 17-year-old Palmer girl was summonsed at a traffic top for DWLR.

UNDERAGE DRINKING

Nov. 15, 2:05 a.m., Crusey St.: Hal James, 19, stopped for a traffic violation. Summons: Minor driving after drinking. A 17-year-old passenger was summonsed for underage drinking.

Nov. 15, 3:57 a.m., Elsinore Ave.: Christopher Converse, 18, and a 16-year-old boy, both of Wasilla, were summonsed at a traffic stop on underage drinking charges.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

Nov. 15, 6:18 p.m., Danna Ave.: Lee Franklin Rose, 51, Houston, was found to have died of heart failure.

MISSING ADULT

Nov. 16, 11 a.m.: Police were notified Daniel N. Denberg, 23, Wasilla, had not been heard from for two weeks and was last seen at Carrs waiting for a bus to take him to Anchorage where he was to head to California to visit family.

    " Seems that "failure to appear" is either a contagious disease easily spread among the criminal drivers and drinkers in the Valley, or that thumbing your nose at the law by not honoring your word to appear to face charges that you've pulled another bonehead stunt that you are clearly guilty of, is one heck of a criminal party game...the "Character" of the Valley, the very nature of it, has deteriorated considerably during the past 5 years. Sad...too sad. I am an old timer longing for the old times when a person's word actually stood for something. "
