Ashamed of Republicans

Published on Monday, November 24, 2008 9:20 PM AKST

I just finished reading the story about Waverli Rainey. I had no idea what the story was behind the story so I looked it up on your website. I guess you must still be getting numerous “hits” because it took me a full 45 minutes to access the original article and forward it on.

I was born in this state and over the years I have voted for presidential candidates from both major parties. I have never been as ashamed of the people of this state that call themselves Republicans as I am today. I am also ashamed of the children they have raised and the teachers and anyone else in authority, including the governor for the way they have behaved over the course of the last few months leading up to the election.

I, too, am a proud supporter of Barack Obama and what he stands for and I wish him great success in fixing the mess that the Republicans have gotten our great nation into. If this letter manages to get published, I don’t want to hear from the ones who say that Bill Clinton is responsible because he deregulated banks. The problem does not lie with deregulation it lies with the character and lack of integrity of the banks and lenders.

I salute you, Waverli Rainey. I wish there were more young people in this state like you.

It really shows your partys true colors. Its a very sad time in our country when we have Democrats (people like you) running this country. "

Well they got caught holding the bag.The builders were aware and also the banks.Bad loans happen to individuals all the time and never cost our economy like we are seeing now. In the lower 48 empty houses are widespread in subdivisions everywhere. Most have never been lived in and the realtors wouldn't rent them cause they don't clear the mortgage. Greed corrupts even democracy! "

Oh, by the way, Obama and Dodd were two who made the most money from Frannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Research that too.

(Why do you think Clinton didn't change it?) Has anybody her taken a basic Economics or History class? And I can clearly see why somebody's intelligence is questioned when they learn nothing from history about the failure of socialism. The problem is the social experiments liberals always subject the rest of the nation to. This mess started under Jimmy Carter, the worst President ever. The "Community Re-investment Act" FORCED bankers, along with pressure from groups like Obama's ACORN to give loans to people who had absolutely no ability to repay loans.

Bill Clinton made it worse, by requiring Fannie and Freddie to have 50 percent of their holdings in this junk paper!
