Wheeling, dealing and stealing

Published on Monday, December 1, 2008 8:31 PM AKST

The way things are going in Alaska, I believe we should hold our next legislative session in the mess hall of some penitentiary. Looks like the old gang’s heading that way anyway.

I believe that when all the appeals and all the legal tricks are done, and if old Ted is finally sentenced, the name of our airport should be changed back to Anchorage International Airport. If it isn’t, it would be an embarrassment to all good Alaskans.

You don’t see Al Capone International Airport in Chicago, do you? I’m really tired of all this wheeling, dealing and stealing that’s going on in my beloved Alaska. I’m mad and embarrassed for my state. Oh, and yes, I’m a Republican.

" HA HA! Thank you for being the first to step up to the dunking tank! Oh, and the inferrence that Obama and Blagojevich aren't buddies is a nice touch! Too bad Obama referred to him twice during the campaign as a good friend, good Governor, etc etc! (But for those that never bothered to follow the campaign beyond the headlines, I guess Obama's current 'deny, duck and run' effort concerning that matter will pay off! Somehow tying this in to Palin seemed a bit desperate, but typical. "

" Well the Illinois Governor, if the reports are true, then jail is where he belongs, and will end up.

As to him being Obama's friend comment, lets not be so obvious in your Palinese like comments, ya know Ayers is his buddy also.

It must be a mentality thing with Palin people. The story has it's own legs and does not need your inferrals.

Cause then I guess you could say Palin and Stevens are buddys also.

And we do know Sarah is a fraud, and has committed tax fraud, expense report fraud, etc. "

" What with all funny comments I've read in here along the lines of 'Republicans are all thieves, liars, blah blah blah' and Democrats are pure and wise..I was REALLY looking forward to a liberal posting something in regards to the latest news out of Illinois regarding Obama's buddy going to jail for being yet another Illinois liar, thief, bully and fraud. I was hoping for something typically funny about 'how this is different because' or that usual nonsense. Nothing? Darn! I love laughing at those! Oh well, I'm sure I won't have to wait long. "

    " To Greg J,

To date the trial was for basically one action of stealing. I would love to have a thorough investigation of his entire career. It seems that your highest elected officials seem to thing they are "Entitled". Your governor is setting even worse standards over a shorter period of time. Geesh, in 10 years she will probably even try to steal more. "

Like many Alaskans, I could care less about your opinion because....you live in Arizona. You are not in a position to know or appreciate what Mr. Stevens has done for me or other Alaskans. I am disappointed with the notion that he may have taken advantage of his position. But unlike you, I am also aware of everything that he did for us. It's a shame that there are those that will focus on a misdeed and ignore the hundreds of good that preceded it. I guess the negative enjoy focusing on the bad, though. "

    " Dear Greg J

Well as I see it Mr. (Convicted) Stevens was in a position of trust in the state of Alaska. He took handouts opr whatever, which is against the law. So as I understand you we should stand behind him and support him. Hmm.

Well I will stand behind him and help him into his cell where he belongs. He then can enjoy free food for the rest of his life.

He did this without regard to Alaskan citizens.

Shame on the rest of us. "

" So I had a neighbor that for 25 years was always there to lend a hand. When I was hospitalized he was there taking care of my house, plowing my driveway and caring for my dog. For 25 years he was there to help without ever expecting anything in return. I was surprised when he got in trouble for tax evasion, but stood by him none-the-less. I see there are many here that wouldn't be able to grasp why I would do that, judging my thier attitude about Mr. Stevens. I guess they've never done wrong. "

" Yes, we should re-name it after those bastions of honesty and moral standards...the Clintons! Once you get past taking campaign money from the Chinese, allowing military-tech missile computers to get sold to the Chinese, buying NAFTA votes, pardoning Puerto Rican terrorists (who weren't even asking for a pardon) in exchange for the New York hispanic vote, Whitewater, stolen FBI files, lying under oath and 'sniper-fire' in Bosnia, well by gosh they're fine Americans! HA HA "

Fraudulent expense reports, per diem expense reports, and tax returns on 4-5 points.

What has she done for Alaskans other than the annual check from oil revenues, which is gong to take a major hit now. "
