MVC

Nov. 28, 1:50 p.m., Mile 4 Wasilla-Fishhook Rd.: A 17-year-old Wasilla boy lost control driving a 1999 Ford pickup, hit the guardrail and rolled into the ditch. The driver and a passenger were not injured. Pickup totaled. Guardrail damage; $3,000.

Nov. 28, 12:35 p.m., Palmer-Fishhhook Rd. and Windsong Cir.: Derrik Swanson, 27, Wasilla, eastbound in a red 2008 Chevrolet pickup, left the road and rolled. No injuries. Pickup totaled.

Nov. 28, 9:15 p.m., Palmer-Wasilla Hwy. and Seward-Meridian Pkwy.: A 17-year-old Wasilla boy, eastbound, driving a 1997 Saturn, allegedly turned in front of a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo driven by Jan L. Stephens, 52, Wasilla. Stephens had a broken arm and was hospitalized. Both vehicles towed away. Teen cited for not yielding.

Nov. 29, 8:14 a.m., Trunk Rd. near Palmer-Wasilla Hwy.: Larry Kaniut, 66, Anchorage, northbound driving a blue 1997 Chevrolet Suburban when he hit a moose. No injuries. Vehicle damage; $3,500. Moose donated to charity.

Nov. 29, 2:33 p.m., Mile 71 Parks Hwy.: Florence Darien, 36, Anchorage, southbound when she lost control of her 1995 Ford Escort, leaving the road and rolling once. Darien had minor injuries treated on scene. Vehicle damage: $4,000.

Nov. 30, 1:25 p.m., Plumley Rd. and Bergman Rd.: Theresa Peterson, 50, Palmer, eastbound driving a black 2001 Mercedes E43 when she hit a 16-year-old Palmer boy who had just exited a driveway on a red 1984 Honda motorcycle. The boy was hospitalized. Damage to the Mercedes: $3,500. Motorcycle totaled. Teen cited for not yielding.

Nov. 30, 11:55 a.m., Knik-Goose Bay Rd. near Foothills Blvd.: Neta Dortland, 71, Wasilla, was southbound driving her 2003 Toyota Camry when Joshua Kelsey, 19, Wasilla, lost traction while northbound in a 1990 Ford Probe, hitting Dortland. Both drivers hospitalized. Both vehicles totaled. Kelsey cited for speeding.

Nov. 30, 1:27 p.m., Old Glenn Hwy. and Eugene St.: Floyd Adkins, 48, Palmer, southbound, waiting to turn left, when he was rear-ended by Ward Grinnell, 46, Wasilla, who was unable to stop on the ice. Damage to Adkins’ vehicle: $1,000. Damage to Grinnell’s vehicle: $1,500. No injuries. Grinnell ticketed for speeding.

Nov. 30, 3 p.m., Spring Dr. and Parks Hwy.: Michael A. Hiller, 25, Anchorage, allegedly failed to yield driving his white 2001 Infinity QX4 and hit David W. Marsett, 52, Anchorage, who was driving a beige 2008 Honda CRV. Both vehicles totaled. No injuries. Hiller cited for speeding.

Nov. 30, 10 a.m., Oat St. and Blue Lupine Dr.: Jack A. MacDonald Jr., 40, Wasilla, parked his 1975 Chevrolet Silverado and left. A 17-year-old Wasilla boy driving a 1996 Ford Contour didn’t see the pickup and hit it. The Ford had to be towed. Teen unhurt. MacDonald cited for parking in the road, no proof of insurance and expired registration.

Nov. 28, 4:09 p.m., Mile 64 Parks Hwy.: Ashley Bartel, 28, Willow, stopped for a traffic violation. Summons: DWLS.

Nov. 28, 10:14 p.m., Country Store on Bogard Rd.: Jeremy Dylan Simile, 21, stopped for having expired registration. Charge: DWLS. Bail: $500.

Nov. 28, 10:28 p.m., Mile 97 Parks Hwy.: Richard Pride, 60, Willow, stopped for an equipment violation. Summons: DWLS.

Nov. 29, 2:15 a.m., Parks Hwy. near Crusey St.: Garland P. Brooks, 37, Palmer, stopped for having an obscured license plate. Summons: DWLR.

DUI

Nov. 28, 11:37 a.m., Barbra St.: Ashley Smith, 22, Wasilla, driving her 1999 Honda Accord, got distracted by her cell phone and drove into the ditch. Charge: DUI. Bail: $500.

Nov. 29, 3:56 a.m., Wasilla-Fishhook Rd. and Curtis Dr.: Michelle K.L. McBride, 40, Wasilla, stopped for a moving violation. Charges: DUI, DWLR. Bail: $5,500.

Nov. 29, 7:19 a.m., Mat-Su Regional Medical Center: Mark Allen Wood, 32, arrested after allegedly driving to the hospital in a black 1998 Chevrolet pickup. Charge: DUI. Bail: $5,000.

Nov. 29, 4:59 p.m., 3 Bears parking lot: William Robinson, 53, Wasilla, stopped on a complaint from the public. Charges: DUI, DWLS, resisting arrest. Bail: $2,000.

Nov. 30, 3 a.m., Bogard Rd. and Helen Ln.: Desiree St. Clair, 34, Wasilla, found after having entered the ditch. Charge: DUI. Bail: $300.

Nov. 30, 4 a.m., Lucille St. and Spruce St.: Everett D. Harper 48, Wasilla, stopped for a moving violation. Charges: DUI, DWLR. Bail: $2,500.

Nov. 30, 2:47 a.m., Seward Meridian Pkwy. and Palmer-Wasilla Hwy.: Jesse R. Hobart, 21, Wasilla, stopped for erratic driving. Charge: DUI. Bail: $2,500.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

Nov. 28, 3 a.m., Hilltop Cir.: Edward M. Kiely, 78, Wasilla, was found to have died of natural causes.

 

DRUG MISCONDUCT

Nov. 29, 1:15 a.m., Bogard Rd. and Main St.: Caton W. Hislop, 18, Wasilla, arrested at a traffic stop. Charges: Drug misconduct V and VI. Bail: $750.

THEFT

Nov. 29, 12:25 a.m. C. Bell St.:  Troopers received report that a black Chevrolet had been parked near a home for several days. It was listed stolen out of Anchorage.

Nov. 29, 9 a.m., Pittman Rd.: Someone entered through the garage door to B&E Gravel in the previous three days and stole a plasma torch, Honda generator and DeWalt chop saw and other items. Total loss: $3,250.

Nov. 30, 2:21 a.m., Mat-Su Resort: A man called to report his red 1996 Geo Metro had been stolen from the resort’s parking lot sometime after midnight.

Nov. 27, 5:20 p.m., Mile 49 Parks Hwy.: Skiala Houser, 19, Anchorage, stopped driving a 1998 Dodge Stratus for an equipment violation. Summons: NVOL.

ASSAULT

Nov. 29, 9:02 p.m., Palmer: Kathleen Michelle Holmes, 21, Palmer, allegedly assaulted two family members and damaged property. She was also arrested on two warrants, one for failure to appear for alcohol screening, the other for failure to appear in court both on underage drinking charges. New charges: Assault, criminal mischief. No bail.

Nov. 29, 9:02 p.m., Caswell Lakes: Ronald Kulhanek, 39, Willow, allegedly assaulted a family member. Charge: Assault. No bail.

WARRANTS

Nov. 30, 3:45 a.m., Lucille St. and Spruce St.: David D. Wild, 19, Wasilla, waved down a trooper for help, found to have a warrant for underage drinking and to have been drinking. Bail: $250.

UNDERAGE DRINKING

Nov. 30, 6:17 a.m., Bull Moose Dr. and Schrock Rd.: Steven A. Lennox, 18, Wasilla, stopped for a moving violation. Summons: Underage drinking, minor driving after drinking.

Nov. 30, 7 a.m., Schrock Rd. and Bull Moose Dr.: Gordon L. Jones, 18, Wasilla, and Cole T. Tobin, 18, Wasilla, summonsed at a traffic stop for underage drinking.

FISHING VIOLATIONS

Nov. 29, Wasilla: Effie Torgrimson, 51, Big Lake, cited while ice fishing for using bait where prohibited.

Nov. 29, 1:25 p.m., Big Lake: John Lipse, 79, Wasilla, cited for fishing without a fishing license.

Nov. 29, 1:55 p.m., Big Lake: John Morgan, 43, Big Lake, cited for using bait where prohibited and fishing without a license.

Nov. 26, Big Lake: Roger LaFrance, 27, Palmer, cited for using bait where prohibited.

Nov. 26, Big Lake: David Logan, 27, Juneau, cited for using a prohibited treble hook.

 

PALMER POLICE DEPARTMENT

MVC

Nov. 24: Janet M. Aslin, 56, Palmer, allegedly ran a stop sign and hit Robert A. Williams, 82, Palmer, No injuries. Aslin ticketed for running a stop sign.

Nov. 25: William Bryant, 36, Anchorage, hit a light pole, causing $3,000 damage to his car. Charge: DUI. Bail: $5,000.

THEFT/SHOPLIFTING

Nov. 25: A 50-year-old Palmer woman reported $3,700 cash stolen from her place of employment.

Nov. 25: Teddy R. Haverlandt, 61, Palmer, reported several different medications stolen from her home.

Nov. 26, Fred Meyer: A 12-year-old, 13-year-old and three 15-year-olds, all of Palmer, will have shoplifting charges forwarded against them to Juvenile Justice.

THREAT

Nov. 25, Palmer Middle School: Geoffrey L. Penrose, 40, Wasilla, reported finding a threatening message on the wall of the school’s bathroom.

ASSAULT

Nov. 26, Pioneer Motel: Delano Darold Wier II, 36, Palmer, arrested at a disturbance. Charge: Assault IV. Bail: $5,000.

Nov. 27: An 18-year-old Palmer woman was arrested for assault and underage drinking.

VANDALSIM

Nov. 28: A 33-year-old Palmer woman reported her glass door had been shot out with a pellet gun.

Nov. 29: Police charged a 27-year-old Palmer man with criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a vehicle belonging to a 21-year-old Wasilla woman.

WARRANT

Nov. 29: Cassandra Pauline Sullivan, 22, Palmer, arrested on $5,000 warrant for violating probation on a hindering prosecution charge.

    " Come on, a citation for fishing? Big deal. The guy is almost 80 years old, he has few pleasures in life left to enjoy. I agree with Mr. Chapson; he has paid and paid and paid. The state needs to dismiss this one and find out another way to suck money out of Alaskans. "

    " Alaska residents 60 or older are not required to purchase sport fishing licenses BUT must apply for an ADFG permanent I.D. card which is a lifetime hunting, fishing and trapping license. Just more paper work to make life more exciting for the seniors. "
