Paul Klabunde

Paul Klabunde, 81, passed quietly in Shell Lake, Wis.. on Nov. 22.

 He was born Nov. 16 1927 to Charles and Maude Klabunde.

 He graduated from Shell Lake High School where he was on the boxing team. In his early years Paul enjoyed the outdoors and working on the dairy farm. He married Phyllis Parker in 1950. While raising a family, Paul worked for 20 years at Allen Gas and Oil. He then became a successful family dairy farmer.   

 Paul came with much of his family to Alaska in 1973, leaving Wisconsin to seek work in Alaska’s North Slope oil fields. Paul worked for more than 20 years on the Slope as a chef. After retiring, Paul and Phyllis moved to Wasilla where they remained until Phyllis passed in 2005. Paul returned to live in Shell Lake in 2006.

 Paul enjoyed the outdoors, going for long drives, gardening and being around his family. Paul was a sports fan, watching football and baseball, specifically the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Braves.  

 He is survived by his five children and their spouses; James and Sue McGibbon of West Virginia, Glen Klabunde of New Mexico, Guy and Dianna Klabunde of Anchorage, Scott and Darlene Klabunde of West Virginia, and Joy and Nick Bays of Anchorage. He has 13 grandchildren: Patrick, Kristine, Angela, Heather, Samantha, Kacey, Krystal, Christopher, Jeremy, Nicole, Jason, Nathan and Nicholas. He has nine great grandchildren; Josiah , Katelyn, Haley Jessica, Kylee, Alexzandra, Jeremy, Katie, Brittany, Ashley.

 Paul was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis and all but one of his four siblings.
