There is so much bad news in our world that I’m really happy to be able to share some good news. We have something happening in the Mat-Su Valley that can help every one of us take better care of our health: Food for Life Nutrition and Cooking Classes, sponsored by The Cancer Project,
www.cancerproject.org.
These classes meet weekly for seven weeks and cost only $90 for the entire series. The next series begins Thursday at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
I’ve been a nurse for more than 25 years and I hate to see people getting sick with illnesses that could be prevented with a healthy diet based upon vegetables, whole grains, fruits and legumes. When we give our bodies the nutrition they need, we go a long way toward preventing, and even reversing, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. We can also help our children reach their optimal health.
Changing our eating habits can seem difficult, and a lot of people are afraid that healthy food won’t taste good, which is why I highly recommend attending an upcoming cooking class. You’ll learn what foods to eat, where you can buy them, how to prepare them and then get to sample them. You’ll discover for yourself that the food is delicious and the instructor, Delisa Renideo, makes the classes fun.
