Barry Duvalle Stadmire Sr.

Wasilla Lake resident Barry Duvalle Stadmire Sr., 41, died Dec. 31 of a brain aneurysm at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage.

A memorial service will be held today at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel at 1 p.m.

Barry was born in Laurel, Miss., to Fredrick and Frankie Stadmire.


He came to Alaska in 2004.

He worked as a laborer with Local 341, refereed for Alaska School Activities Association, was a registered flagger and was also a truck driver.

Barry enjoyed weight training, basketball and football. Barry was a big fan of the NFL, especially New Orleans Saints football team.

His family said, “Barry was friendly, outgoing, helpful and compassionate. He was very family oriented and a great support for his friends.”

He is preceded in death by his father, Frederick S. Stadmire; sister, Shaunelia V. Stadmire and step-father, Edward Ware.

Barry is survived by his daughter, Kourtney Dover of Picayune, Miss; son, Barry D. Stadmire Jr.; mother, Frankie J. Stadmire-Ware of Wasilla; sisters, Dawn C. “Robert” Miller of Fairfield, Ohio and Sonya W. Stadmire of Wasilla; grandson, Caleb M. Simmons of Picayune, Miss.; nieces, Tamara C. and Amanda D. Miller of Fairfield, Ohio; nephew Robert E. Miller of Fairfield, Ohio and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
