In the wake of what must be described as one of the most ridiculous presidential campaigns in my lifetime, I have to say “Thank you” to the most refreshing candidate — and her family — for high office in recent history.
Until early fall of 2008, very few folks in the continental United States even knew Mrs. Palin and her lovely family existed.

|
Few of us in the conservative persuasion will forget the day when Sarah’s running mate, the erstwhile, occasional maverick John McCain introduced her to the American public.
To be introduced to a self-made, hard-working American woman who is so representative of what we common folk admire was an event that will not soon be forgotten.
I guess we who admired and supported the “Hot Chick and the Old Dude” knew the eventual outcome, but for one brief shining moment, us average folk thought we had a chance to hold off the reign of terror the “savior,” our soon to be president and his cronies represent.
Here before us stood a candidate that we could relate to.
There before us stood an intelligent and dynamic woman along with her family as they were presented to the electorate.
To us average folks, the Palins were easy to identify with.
Here stood a family that refused to hide its strengths and weaknesses, and did so with grace and style.
Before us stood an example of husband and wife supporting one another whether it be a quest for elective office or success in a snowmobile race across the Alaska wilderness.
We saw pride in the eyes of two parents as the military service of a son was discussed.
We were allowed to see love shown by parents and siblings to a newborn child, who in the eyes of so many in our society would be described as “flawed” and the refusal to conceal an unwed daughter with child was a testament to a good and forthright family.
Equally important to those of us who are proud to testify our love of the Lord was the testimony of the Palins to an often hostile and unforgiving press.
I guess I could go on in great length about lost opportunities and injustices served upon the Palin family.
Instead, I’d like to say “Thank you” to the Palins. (Hope to see you back on the political scene the next go around-and good luck Todd in your next big snowmobile race.

Let us also not forget that Gov. Palin made it into the American history books not only as the first female and youngest ever-elected Governor of Alaska, but as the first Republican female vice presidential candidate. Secretary Clinton may have her 18 million cracks in that glass ceiling, but Governor Palin has her 48 million. "
alaskan10 wrote on Feb 1, 2009 3:36 PM:
Well let's see, she was elected city council member twice, elected twice as mayor, elected Governor by beating a sitting Republican Governor, nominated by her party to be VP. Chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission serving as ethics supervisor. Chaired the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. Chairs the National Governors Association Natural Resource Committee and chosen to serve by 49 other Governors who recognize her expertise in energy development while protecting the environment.
And she did all that without the benefit of money, political connections or having an elite Ivy League school. "

" Our Gov has made a couple good decisions in a row! If she will focus on her job & the best interests of Alaska, and develop the courage to seek out & consider other's points of view, I will forgive her & support her!
I do want and NEED her to do well! We PAY her to manage & represent our State using the best practices. If she hired the best & brightest & sent her "yes" people home, her future & ours would shine! "======Ya forgot, she should resign also. "

You got that Right. The rest of it you will need to wake up and come to reality she is unfit due to lack of common sense and the intellect required for a position of VP or President.
Palin made the Election Campaign into a Circus show. Lets hope that She will never again make a mockery of our election process, to Americans and the World alike. "

she has made all the lesser 48'ers recognize Alaska as a state, not another country!
i really don't know if that is good or bad, but she did put it on the map!
those who think, are individuals, those who don't..............are Democrats/sheep!
Hope for "REAL" change. Ron Paul 2012 "

Thank you Mr. Evans for the kind words! We in Alaska are so tired of the Palin bahing going on and on and on....Mr. Obama won the election and most that I know will wish him well during the next 4 years and then work a little harder to win next time. Yuck, are you old enough to vote? Did you know the election is over? "
