Jimmie Alan Tibbets

Mr. Jimmie Alan Tibbets, 64, of Wasilla, passed away March 21 at Elemendorf Air Force Base. Jimmie was born March 11, 1945 in Hanford, Calif., to Earl and Velma Jane Lowry Tibbets.

Jimmie completed his education with an Rh.P from the University of Washington and an MBA from the Oregon Institute of Technology. He served his country as a Corpsman in both the Navy and the Marine Corp. While in the service he served three tours of duty in Vietnam. During which time he was awarded the Purple Heart.

Jimmie came to Alaska in 1995 and resided in Palmer until 2000 then moving to Wasilla where he resided until his death. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Roseburg, Ore.; Mercy Hospital, Roseburg, Ore.; Mat-Su Regional Medical Center and Anchorage Regional Hospital. He finally retired in 2008.

Jimmie enjoyed fishing, reading and loved Alaska.

Jimmie Alan Tibbets is survived by his wife Du Thi Tran of Wasilla; son, Trevor E. Kidd (Alexandria) Renton, Wash., stepson, Thien Tran, Wasilla; brother, Richard E. Tibbets (Dixie), Medford, Ore.; and sister, Peggy Fine (John) of Roseburg, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Velma Tibbets and sister, Roxy Arlene.

There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday at 11 a.m., at the Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla, 151 E. Herning Ave., Wasilla.
