First family is having its troubles

Published on Monday, April 6, 2009 11:58 PM AKDT

Levi Johnston, along with his mother and sister, appeared on the Tyra Banks show Monday and talked about sex. Before that, his former girlfriend — mother of their baby — opened up about teen sex on the Greta Van Susteren show.

Not long ago Levi’s mother was busted for dealing in drugs and now Todd Palin’s half-sister gets caught in a  burglary attempt.

It’s sad that a couple of young people have to raise a child at such an early age, but it’s not all that uncommon.

And in a world filled with drug abuse, it’s not all that odd that a woman could turn to pushing drugs to make a living.

There’s simply no excuse for a woman to take her 4-year-old child on a burglary run.

Still, any one of those things could happen to an extended family, but the totality is what’s incredible.

In regard to the two television interviews, it doesn’t seem like those children were getting very good advice. Most people would prefer to keep family matters private. It’s not like they are movie stars where any exposure is good exposure.

And while Levi Johnston is no relation to Governor Palin, anything like his interview will stick to her like tar and her political enemies and the wagging tongues on the Internet will pounce on it.

That’s not a way to get on the good side of your baby’s grandmother. Or endear you to anyone who has any say about how much you’ll get to see your son.

The same thing goes for the criminals on the fringe of this family. Sarah Palin hasn’t sold any illegal drugs and she hasn’t broke into anybody’s house to steal money, but her name will get linked to those acts.

Politicians have to have thick skin, but these events and interviews would require rhinoceroses hide.

She brought some of it on herself when she let Bristol talk to Van Susteren. She had to know nothing good could come of that. The bloggers have hung their hat on that miscue.

It seems like when things start to return to somewhat normal pace for the governor and Alaska, something else comes up that has nothing to do with her, but she still has to to deal with it while she’s trying to govern.

C’mon. Discussing your bedroom antics for Tyra Banks and her audience of voyeurs?

That’s a whole new tier of Valley Trash.

" Personally I feel sorry for Levi, he's the father of a beautiful son with strings attached. He can't take a picture, take him where he wants and it all revolves around the grandmother???? You're so right it's all about Sarah!! Sarah thinks everyone lives around her, she's just a governor, So what if people get a pic of the baby, geez she thinks if she doesn't get money it ain't happening. I hope the best for Levi, all the negative about uncaring fathers and he can't enjoy his son, God's watching Sarah he's watching "

" Future son in law, out on the road for the GOP, phony lot of deception to play a winning hand which went badly for the GOP and still is a plague like never seen here in Alaska. Why can't Levi take and see his son. Palin bragged and dragged him all over and has now hung him out to dry, so Paliny of her. What a Palinerick. "

" Levi Johnston needs to see a Family Law attorney so a Parenting Plan can be devised that will offer a workable solution. It is not up to the Palins to determine when he will see the baby. He should have the right to take his child out of the Palin household. This is not just about father's rights, but the human rights of the father and baby to have a quality relationship and love one another. Everyone needs to get along so this child does not suffer emotional harm. It is REALLY about this baby. "

" Maybe now both Bristol and Levi can get on with focusing on the most important thing in their life. Raising their new born son, and hopefully doing it in the privacy of their own home. Lets pray Sarah and the media leave them alone. "

Double standard... wrote on Apr 7, 2009 7:48 AM:

" Scandal of any kind is normally a career enhancement for a democrap. Republicans are held to a higher standard because they are considered the party of high morals and pro life. If the Palin's were democraps, and pro choice this would be a non story or more likely the liberal media would be circling the wagons to spin the story in a much more positive light. The media hates Palin because she is a Republican pro life threat to their left wing agenda. "

Did I miss something. Isn't Governor Pain's grandchild by Bristol carrying the genetic chromosomes of Levi Johnston??? "

What were you thinking wrote on Apr 7, 2009 5:15 AM:

" You opted to give the Palin/Johnston family dirty laundry even more publicity in your editorial, which was pretty darn trashy on your part. In future, please try to find something more thought-provoking to write about and leave that clan to Jerry Springer and the tabloids. "

I watched it wrote on Apr 7, 2009 4:45 AM:

" I watched the entire show. There was no talk about "bedroom antics". You are part of the problem and not part of the solution. Therefore you should keep your pen/keyboard from operation!
No, I am not related, friends nor a supporter of the Palins. "
