Ross will defend constitutions

Published on Thursday, April 9, 2009 10:30 PM AKDT

To the editor:

During his conformation hearing for state attorney general, Wayne Ross reaffirmed my support for his nomination.

When  Sen. French asked who he would serve, the governor or the law, he responded,” the law.” He then added, “ I took an oath to uphold the constitutions of the United States and Alaska.”

Clearly he understands we live in a republic under the rule of law not the rule of men.

Unfortunately, a few Native and state Democratic leaders  would prefer someone who would allow the granting of special privileges outside of our constitutional boundaries. To those who don’t like our constitutions there are provisions in place to change what you don’t like.

Do not expect to gain special privilege by ignoring our constitutions.

I am sure if that procedure was followed, Wayne Ross would still be honoring his oath and upholding our founding documents.

Gov. Palin has selected a true defender of freedom shame on those who oppose his nomination.

Sarah Palin just suffered a massive defeat. For the first time in Alaska history, an appointed attorney general has been rejected. With a bipartisan vote of 35 NOs to 23 YEAs, the Alaska joint House and Senate voted down W.A.R. (Wayne Anthony Ross). "

" This poll is significant because it’ll be hard for GOPers to discount it as coming from a leftist or Democratic publication or from a polling company suspected of skewering the poll in favor of Democrats. It also fits in with other polls that continue to show Obama with a high poll rating which is partially due to him having pieced together a coalition of Democrats, independents and Republicans who aren’t into the talk show political culture (in other words: Republicans who won’t be attending tomorrow’s tea parties..). Here are some details from the poll: "

" A new poll by The Politico has some good news for Democrats and President Barack Obama and some bad news for Republicans and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in particular:

*President Barack Obama has emerged as the most trusted figure in American politics.

*Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has emerged as the political figure perceived as the most untrustworthy.

*More people trust the Democrats to come up with solutions than the Republicans.
