Thomas A. Schill

Thomas A. Schill, 48, died as the result of an accident near his home in Sutton on May 12. He was born Feb. 24, 1961 in San Diego, Calif., the son of Oscar and Audrey (Bagley) Schill. As a family they moved to Alaska and arrived in time to experience the 1964 earthquake.

Tom served our country in the Navy. He worked for more than 20 years as a union journeyman, pipe fitter/plumber before going back to college and graduating Cum Laude from the University of Alaska, Anchorage with an Associate’s Degree in architectural and engineering technology in 2008. Since completing his education, he had been employed with United Utilities where he has taken great pride in working with AutoCAD as a draftsman. He could be described as a perfectionist with his work. 

Tom designed the home he and his beloved wife, Connie shared in Sutton. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed any activity outdoors: hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. He also enjoyed his motorcycle.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Kenneth.

Tom is survived by his wife, Connie Schill; brothers, Robert Schill of Anchorage, Daniel Schill and his wife Bonnie of Spokane, Wash., and brother James Schill.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday at Valley Funeral Home, Palmer Chapel, 2020 N. Hemmer Rd., Palmer. Interment will be at noon at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
