SAMUEL DOUGLAS BERG

Wasilla resident, Samuel D. Berg, 20, died June 24 at his home in Wasilla. He was born March 4, 1989 in Silver City, .C., to Matthew and Mary Berg. There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1015 S. Check Street, in Wasilla.

Samuel came to Alaska in 1996. He was a graduate of Wasilla High School. Samuel was an artist and enjoyed snowboarding at Hatcher Pass, camping and halibut fishing at Homer Spit and gardening from an early age.

Samuel is survived by his mother, Mary Berg; father, Matthew Berg; brother, Walter Berg all of Wasilla; grandmother, Mary Dianne Venable and grandfather, Doug Berg both of Pittsboro, N.C.; uncle and aunt, Walter and Cathy Heckman with cousins, Cathy, Margery and Alexis Heckman all of Elfland, N.C.; uncles, Jesse and Erick Berg of Pittsboro, N.C.; aunt and uncle, Eunice and Troy Yarbrough with cousins, Sameera Heckman, Sterling Yarbrough, Mario and Sarah Myers all of Wichita, Kansas; aunt and uncle, Lilly and Larry Walker with cousins Antjuan, Katelynn, Mikayla, Junior and Alexis Walker all of Wasilla, and cousins; Clay, Anna, Lacey, Maya and Henry Berg all of Pittsboro, N.C. Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel in Wasilla.
