Butte resident Doris Marie Carol Grato, 30, died June 15.

She was born Dec. 17, 1978, in Aniak to Agnes and Wassilie Kameroff.

Doris and her family left Lower Kalskag in 2001 and traveled to many places in Alaska before settling at the Butte near Palmer in 2005. She was a dental assistant for about three years at Pioneer Peak Dental.

She is survived by husband Dominic Grato and children Katie Ann and Thomas Joshua Grato, her parents Agnes and Wassilie Kameroff, brother John Mathias Kameroff, sisters Natasia “Jackie” Levi of Kalskag, Vivian Mary Changsak of Kalskag, Natalia Bedushia Atchak of Anchorage and Nicole Haroldsen; nieces and nephews Olivia, JoAnn, Raven, Reese, Reed, Reva, Jackie, Wassilie Paul, Nic, Little Clement, Alex, Tina, Madison and Justice; and grandparents Alexie and Mary D. Williams of Kalskag; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by daughter Rayn Marie, nephews Marcus Levi and Kenneth G. Kameroff; brother-in-law Thomas Gean Grato; uncles Andrew Johnson, Joseph Alexie, Evan Wassily “Uncle Ice Cream,” Mezak Kameroff; aunt Darlene Peterson; cousins William Nook-Alexie, Joseph Alexie “Jo Jo”, Andrew Alexie; in-laws Rita and Thomas Grato; grandparents Natalia Alexie, Andrew Kameroff and John Nichols Sr.

Services were held at Evergreen Chapel in Anchorage on Thursday, June 18, 2009 and the funeral/burial was held in Lower Kalskag on Saturday, June 20, 2009.
