Clean energy
needed now

In a time of economic uncertainty, we need our senators to vote for the American Clean Energy and Security Act to revitalize our economy by stimulating job growth in the clean energy sector. The evidence is overwhelming that if this bill is passed, millions of green jobs will be created. Several studies, including one by the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, estimate that 1.7 million new jobs will be created by these clean energy investments.

Our energy status quo will not sustain us forever. Fossil fuels are non-renewable resources, and we cannot drill our way to energy independence. Before we return to $4 a gallon gasoline, we must invest in a clean energy future that includes renewable energy sources such as wind, geothermal, hydro, tidal and solar that will never be exhausted. The costs of inaction are too high. We must call our senators and implore them to vote in favor of the American Clean Energy and Security Act, and thus, a sustainable economic future.

" Spare us the green jobs BS. We live in a state that depends on developing oil and gas that we need right now. If for no other reason than to keep Obama's B747, and all his SUV gas guzzlers on the road. Until I see Obama riding in an armored Prius you can take your hypocrital green BS somewhere else. "

" Cap and Trade is a disaster and anyone who has actually studied the bill knows it. China and India say no way and the pathetic saps in D.C. are clueless. We do need green energy to be phased in gradually. I'm glad you like hydro, the Susitna River is prime. Try getting that past Friends of MatSu. Wind power? Great but those greenie Kennedys say NO as turbines out their window degade their view. It is ok elsewhere. Solar? Massive solar farms in Arizona could help until some indigenous rodent is found to be "endangered". Nuclear? Heavens no,we musn't !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

" only problem is; They have not determined what "exactly" a green job is!
What should have happened in Alaska is: 1. utilize some of the states money to build a smelting plant to recycle aluminum.
    2. start an aluminum can recycling program , like they do in the south, it would drastically reduce trash on our roads, and lessen the amount in the landfills.
Would lessen the amount of panhandlers as well.
But what do we know, we're just peasants! "
