Tea Parties better than ACORN

To the editor:

The Frontiersman continues to show it’s inadequacies with the Aug. 4 editorial. In the next to the last paragraph, the editor challenges the Tea Party Patriots about registering voters. If this paper actually covered the event they would know that voter registration was available along with voter information from any group that takes the time to be present.

Voting is a right and a privilege in this country. Individuals are responsible for registering and voting and there are many people who help those that need assistance.

Unlike ACORN, Tea Party Patriots are not paid to register voters and do not seek to register people who are already registered.

These are truly non-partisan events, we do not all agree on how, but all agree that government needs to change. We can not continue to grow deficits that our grandchildren and soon our great-grandchildren will have to pay.

It is time for everyone in this county, starting at the top with our President and Congress and continuing down through unions and organizations to the local people, to tighten their belts and make deep cuts now.

In Alaska we could be the example to the rest of the country if we wanted to. We need to refuse all stimulus money, tell our federal government we are going to pull our own weight and not ask for or take money for Alaska projects and set a budget within our state income (without new taxes). The time has come to stop living on OPM (Other People’s Money). We need to live up to the saying, “Alaska Is What America Was!”

We need to be 21st Century pioneers. We need to take care of ourselves and neighbors at the local level first.

" Why do you care if the frontiersman was there. I cannot believe you people are still talking about that. It is as if being in the local paper is the only validation you get for the rallies. I went to all three and they were repetitive. Down with taxes, Obama sucks, blah blah blah. I hate taxes as much as the next guy but we need them . Where does the money come from for the parks you hold your rallies in? "

Thanks for the article. Great statements. I have been at each tea party and concur with your sentiments. It's a great country. We have to speak out and work for one another to keep it great. "

" jp, deceased people don't vote. Are you really going to be that silly? Every time silly things like that are said it makes ALL republicans look unintelligent.
ACORN helped to REGISTER people --- just because there were some bogus forms doesn't mean those turned out to be actual votes. Registering and voting are TWO SEPARATE things.
Please stop spreading falsehoods and the republican propaganda. "

" Oh gag! Not more "Alaska as frontier" blather! This is 2009, and Alaska is not a frontier. It isn't the 18th century anymore.

Furthermore, we are paying for the stimulus, and we are fools if we don't accept it, and let the funds heat and feed those in the state who need it.

And, finally, pul-ese do not call yourselves "patriots." You are no more a patriot than anyone else! You are a bunch of tea bagging idiots. Where were you all when Bush was squandering billions on nothing? You dumb teabaggers are such total, misguided, hypocrites! "

My neighbor does, and he waves his little sign every time he gets a chance. Cut off your nose to spite your face, why don't you all? God, what idiots. "

" Tea Party voter registration workers do not receive government money for their services, register only the living and register each person ONLY ONCE (what a concept!!) not up to 72 times like ACORN does. Tea Party people do not intimidate voters by placing racist thugs at the entrances to urban polling places like ACORN does.Tea Party people do not use Saul Alinsky methods to foment chaos and revolution against America as ACORN does. The Obamanistas now call those who exercises peaceful First Amendment free speech "mobs" if they question Obama. Freedom is waning in America. Help save it if youdare. "

" We are non-partisan, we honor our country, flag and veterans of all the branches of service. People from all walks of life have been to our rallies and from all over the United States. Why? because they know that our government can not continue to live beyond it's means. We can not continue to give away America to pay it's debts, we can not continue to live with 9.5% or larger unemployed families and massive government spending. The spending forced on us will put our children, and grandchildren into indebtedness for years to come. "

" Thank you Kenton for your sincere insight of the tea party rallies and truth in what the tea parties are all about. Yes again the frontiersman thought the rallies were repetitive if they had been there and reported the whole story instead of a hit and miss or no coverage they would of known and not tried to denounce the cause. Along with voter registration, we research legislation and the constitution provide that information to the public on the local, state and federal level. We give the local candidates an opportunity to present their platform and meet their neighbors. "

it is true, and was not recognized by the government, they knew it happened, and refused to correct it, or prosecute them for it. "
