" We are a long ways from help from the lower 48 in the event of a severe earthquake or other disaster which is inevtable someday. At least thirty days of food, water and any required medicine should be kept on hand. It is easy to be complacent but in a crisis government may not be able to help and your neighbors are likely in survival mode for their own families. If the crisis occurs in the winter then it will be a real problem for most. The PFD is not far off. Use some of it for preparation for your future. "
