Robert moved to Alaska from Ontario, Canada in 1965 with his wife and four daughters. He resided in Bird Creek, Anchorage, Willow and Wasilla.
He worked for the Alaska Railroad, operated a janitorial business, and retired in 1996 from the state at Kulis Air National Guard Base. After retirement he took a lot of pride in having a manicured lawn and plowing snow for neighbors.

He enjoyed fishing, playing billiards, horseshoes, golf and bowling. He did some boxing and always enjoyed a boxing match. He had a real passion for buying and selling used cars.
Robert was known for always having a song to sing or a joke to tell and was a stranger to no one. He also danced like Fred Astaire.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks and American Legion #28.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria (Shotsie); four daughters, Wendy Taylor, Veronica McKenzie, Gloria Stubbs and Deborah Champion; sons-in-law, Duane Taylor, Donald McKenzie, Rayman Stubbs and Mark Champion; nine grandchildren, Terra Potts, Christopher Coulter-Fenner, Troy Fenner, Shauna Berensmann, Benjamin Neher, Robert Champion, Melanie Neher, Jeffrie Champion, Whitney Stubbs; eight great-grandchildren, Bret Fulkerson, Kelsea Bushnell, Haven Barnett-Fenner, Derek Fulkerson, Mackenzie Berensmann, Reese Coulter-Fenner, Austin Berensmann, Donovan Neher; sisters, Doris, Helen and Betty of Ontario, Canada and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Leafa; brothers, Ernest, Whitney and Bill Coulter.
Memorial service followed by celebration of life will be Tuesday at 3 p.m., at Christ First United Methodist Church of Wasilla on the corner of Fairview Loop and Knik Road.
