Linda Carol Backlin

Linda Carol Backlin, 66, of Big Lake died Sept. 18 at home after a short battle with cancer.  

Linda was born to Maybelle and Carl Pue on Oct. 19th, 1942 in Seattle.

Linda worked as a dispatcher for King Country District 50 and as a cook before she moved to Alaska in November 1988, where she resided for the remainder of her life.

On April 18, 1993, Linda married her long time companion, Chuck Backlin who she first met in the eighth grade.   

Linda loved working on crafts and was often seen selling her crafts a various shows. She enjoyed visiting with friends and was often the one everything went to for advice.

Linda is survived by her husband Chuck Backlin of Big Lake; her mother Maybelle Pue of Washington; brother, Dan Pue of Washington; her son Tom Garnigan of Washington; her step-daughters Laura Ann, Teresa and Jacqueline Jeanette; her step-sons, Chuck and Steven; several nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Leonard Backlin and sister-in-law, Lynn Backlin.

She is preceded in death by her father, Carl Pue, her sister, Sally and her nephew Ty.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m., at the Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla, 151 E. Herning Ave.

Arrangements are under the care of Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.

    " She was a wonderful person that had a huge heart and cared for everyone. She was surrounded by loved ones that night. I wish i could have been in alaska, but i am away at school. I will always miss her and love her. "
