Wasilla resident Cheryl D. Fichtner-Elliott, 45, died, peacefully Sept. 19 in her Wasilla home.

A memorial will be held at 2 p.m., Monday at Valley Funeral Home, 151 E. Herning Ave., in Wasilla. Following the memorial there will be a reception at the Church of Latter-day Saints; Cottonwood Ward at the Colony building across from Colony High School on Bogard Road.

Cheryl was born in Biloxi, Miss., where at a young age moved to Montana where she lived until she moved with her family to Alaska at the age of 15.  She graduated with honors from East High School in Anchorage. She moved to Wasilla in 1988 with her family where she lived until her death. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, a loving daughter, sister and a wonderful warm-hearted homemaker.

Cheryl enjoyed life to the fullest, especially spending time with family and friends. She was a helpful, giving, warm-hearted person who strongly believed in being a Good Samaritan. She leaves an empty space in the hearts of family, friends and the many people that knew her. Over the years she was active with her two daughters in and out of school activities, volunteering much of her time to their schools, social events, sporting events, fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, family road trips, berry picking, gardening, family barbecues and holiday parties, she was a very talented seamstress and bead worker.

She leaves behind her loving parents, John and Mary Fichtner; daughter, Savannah Fichtner; sisters, Cozi Fichtner and Promise Hiler, brothers, Chris Fichtner and Jeremy Fichtner; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and numerous friends all of Wasilla; grandmother, Betty Smith and niece, Alora Faller of Anchorage; daughter, Shailmar Fichtner of Maryland, and extended family in Washington and Oregon. She was truly loved and will be extremely missed.

Arrangements are under the care of Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
